I can beat that
Pre production seadweller bought for £1000 I took it to Rolex st James and they said there was something wrong as it pre dated the release of the seadweller and wouldn’t service it so I put it on eBay and it sold for £4200 to a collector in Italy who sold it last year for over 300,000 Swiss francs
That is heart breaking, what made you keep track of it after selling it on?

Best deal I have been part of (helping a friend) was a Patek 3700/1 for Tiffany, bought by him on ebay at 2800USD. It passed through my hands as I received it and sent to him.

Now sold at 150k
How long ago was this?

I knew the serial number
And have photos
and as there were less then 10 made for testing
So when it came up for auction I recognised it

That’s some serious detective work! What auction was it at if you don’t mind me asking?

If you do the miles you find things lots of things before lock down I was doing around 1000 miles a week going to fairs
So it really wasn’t that cheap considering your time, fuel, wear and tear, food. Your probably just breaking even......I know it’s about the hunt.

It’s an unusual emotion reading of these great (lucky?) finds. Why not me and well done all wrapped in one.

Reading a couple of these barn find threads - made me wander down my local antiques shop, massive place, think I genuinely thought I’d find a bargain. Silly me.

I am delighted someone on here had the find of a life time. The price alone would make me smile every time I looked at it.

No worries, do you have a link for the ad on Christie’s? I did a search and they’ve sold quite a few prototypes over the years.
