Flea market moon watch find

It’s a 1039
I would need 6+ links to fit my fat wrist
I think I will sell and buy a period 1171
And source the correct dial

by all means cash in on the small bracelet but if it was me I would leave the rest of the watch alone. This way I can look at it and smile since it's exactly as-found. The dial and hands are not ugly by any means.

Other than the above bracelet change I'd definitely add a service then wear the heck out of it 😀

Exactly. I would bore the hell out of everyone with it for years to come: "see the markII on the dial? let me tell you the story of THIS watch. One day I was strolling thru the flea market when all of a sudden I spotted..." 😁

Exactly what I would do too.

Can anyone remember a better deal or barn find here at OF? Tales like this warm my greedy heart.

I would not change a thing. (Except the bracelet - I'm a member of the Big Dumb Wrist Club too).

I would wear that little guy every livelong day.

I'm a fellow Flea Market Trawler & your come-up ( to use record nerd parlance) has made my day.

BRAVO!

Last year someone pulled a sweet Seiko out of a shop for a buck or two, and I am still envious of that. This might be the best deal though

Yep gonna be hard to match this one re-price to value ratio 😁

😗

Relative to value percentage-wise, my $3 Seiko was one of the better, but in terms of sheer bargainhunt extravaganza this is a clear winner.

Let's not talk about members finding LeCoultres though...

I’ve got to say, I’d be tempted to service it and leave the hands and dial as is. It’s not going to be a show stopper but is a great daily wearer with an unusual look. I’d embrace that and stick with what is now authentic to that watch and it’s history.

That’s right, all the cost was in polywatch for that one, if I recall correctly

Thanks all
Happy to wear as it is but will try and find the right dial & hands
There’s no hurry
But the bands going on eBay
I’ll wear it on a nato strap until I get a 1171
