I found a used Rolex 702 crown and original tube for a good price. It was decently worn, but I think matches the "vibe" of this well-loved watch. And yes...it does make a difference in the look and feel of this 1680! It just fits better than the thicker upgraded 703, which looks too modern

Now gotta find that "top hat".

Personally I think the top hat makes the watch. Sharp crystal edges and the big magnification. You can tell aftermarket crystals right away.

I use correct ones on my Tudor subs as well for the same reasons (but date is not as big)

I wouldn’t bother with another insert. I have some NOS tritium pearls but they are not for sale.
