Lakewood, Colorado is as backwater as it gets. It will take more than a Kontiki find to make it a tourist destination. In other words - a forsaken hole in the ground.

Very large suburb of Denver. Not what I imagined when you said "backwater", but yes, it's not particularly upscale.

Ok but for now Lakewood is mine

I was actually referring to the part where you were offering to perform house calls to find interesting watches. 😉

I'm sure we've all stopped at back water second hand shops with high hopes, so nice to see it can pay off sometimes! Congrats!

On a clear night if you listen closely off in the distance can you faintly hear Ned Beatty squealing like a pig ?

To be fair to Lakewood - the sound of banjos is rarely heard and Ned would have to get a hefty appearance fee to turn up.

House calls? Gladly. Draw the line at partially collapsed barns where grandaddy allegedly stored “watch stuff”. Although now that I’m thinking about it ...

Last time I was there Lakewood was right outside of Denver, it is in no way a backwater.

Denver is booming and, mostly, for the right reasons. Lakewood is not going to be on anyone’s “must visit” list anytime soon.

Thanks for the kind words. The dial is killer - figuratively and literally. The amount of radium on the markers means that wearing it is a bad idea. I’m not normally into safe queens and wear everything I own, but this is going to be the exception.

First post as well. 😀

Has anyone come across this version of the Eterna Kontiki with a silver dial and date from circa 1958. This one is all original with Gay Freres bracelet and original crystal. It has the 1422UD automatic movement in it which is very clean. The case is in very good condition as well. I haven't been able to find another silver dial version anywhere. , so I suspect it might be quite rare.
