I can confirm that the clasp on the 1125/617 can indeed fail, this happened to me yesterday in an airport while putting my jacket on and probably twisting the wrist backward.

I feel I was both very lucky and unlucky.

The FOIS (watch bought new in Feb 2021 and bracelet from OB in April 2021) fell on the ground from less than a 1mt height and I immediately noticed it. The worst part is that hitting the ground the bezel fell off! It was not a hard crush and in fact there are no visible scratches on the watch nor the bezel, it simply and plainly detached from the watch.

Not only it is quite scary the bracelet could fail when doing such an ordinary movement (I red it could happened but it seemed a remote possibility) but the bezel issue was really the cherry on the top. I was lucky enough to notice it immediately and find it on the floor.

Now, I am not sure if Omega or the boutique that sold me the bracelet will cover any of the reparation cost, but I am wondering if the bracelet choice was a good one at all as I am afraid it will be an expensive problem to fix with no guarantee it won’t happen again.

This is extremely disappointing as the FOIS on the 1125/617 looks really awesome and I have been looking for a manual speedy with smaller dimension since a long time.

In an effort to keep this two year old thread relevant, I thought I would share a past project in which this thread was helpful. A little over a year ago, I had a conversion performed on my own FOIS employing both the 1125 bracelet and 617 end links as depicted in the thread.

The FOIS case still sports its OEM 1861 movement (I have a restored 145.012 with a 321 among my other Speedies) and the crystal on this watch is now Hesalite.
Add to it, a Pre-Moon service caseback, a 60th Annie crown with a 2020 'Ed White' dial and hand set fitted.

Alas, the current 'Ed White' bracelet end links cannot be modified to fit the FOIS lugs. The OEM Ed White 19mm bracelet is nearly identical to the 20mm 60th Annie bracelet which I use on two other Speedmaster's to include the aforementioned 145.012. Those end links have to be modified to fit too.

Lastly, that is both Ed White's and James McDivitt's signatures on the envelope, signed a couple of days before the Gemini IV launch.
Instead of procrastinating, I need to order the 'Ed White' 321!
