So I have 1861 and wanted to recreate a FOIS, and will get a Hirsch voyager as that seems to be very similar: does this match?

Any recommendations on a good deployant clasp? Doesn't need to omega unless the price isn't absurd. Something that looks similar would be great though
It won't be an Omega deployant clasp because they require a specific style strap. I've had good luck with Fluco deployants, good quality and not too pricey.

The FOIS strap isn’t a deployant, but a standard tang buckle. In case you care. The strap you are considering is also a slightly darker shade of brown. In reality, it is more of a chocolate brown. Here is the strap on the Omega website.

Oh thank you for that! Is there any option that is a close match for the fois then that comes in 20mm?

Unfortunately the omega option is only 19mm..hmm

Last December, I purchased my FOiS and I have out Forstner Flatlink bracelet as well and I’m loving it. I have replaced a clasp with a vintage Omega one.

What vintage omega clasp did you use, if I may ask?

I have one of these "vintage" clasps also -- there was a fella who had quite a few and was selling them on eBay for a reasonable price. I think there are also facsimile ones available too. if I get a chance I'll grab a few pix of the one I picked up for my Forstner.

I think you're referring to this one shipped from Canada, goes by a different name on the Bay as I'm quite sure he also supplied mine;

I ended up doing 2 small mods that now make the FOIS one of my favorites and doubles it’s time in my rotation. Nothing weird, nothing unique, all discussed here by others as well.

1- changed to a bracelet over the strap, and omg what a difference that made for me. I went with Uncle, ordered the standard end links, they sent solid instead. They fit and look great IMO.

2- switched the caseback for a standard speedy pro caseback. The mm height difference really threw off the balance for me, always felt top-heavy and wouldn’t sit properly comfortably on my wrist. That little tweak made all the difference for me, YMMV.

Yep, that's it exactly - thanks for posting.

Mine's been on the bracelet for a few years now, still works well.

Do you know if this will fit the Uncle Seiko beads of rice bracelet?

Which caseback fit right? Looks great the way you have it dressed up. Really nice!

My first Omega, and first luxury/mechanical watch. Originally tried one on at an AD in Las Vega in 2019 and fell in love with it but didn't think I could rationalize the cost at the time. About 6 weeks ago I picked this one up on eBay for a great deal, but without service records, original strap, or box. It was a bit of a risk but it seems to have paid off as from what I could read from the chicken scratch on the backside of the dust cover, it seems to have been last serviced in 2021. Runs great, about +2 seconds with full wind, no greater than +8 seconds after 24 hours in the 5 COSC positions. I've put a SpiralWinder exhibition caseback on it and ordered some nicer straps to replace the literally $15 fake alligator it came on.

Production number is in the 1800s so probably from 2012 or 2013. Looks to have been polished at some point I would guess given the condition. So far in love with it, and while some might consider it too large for my sub 6 inch wrist, I think it suits me well.

Congrats on the pick up, it’s a great watch! Would love to hear your observations on the Spiralwinder case back, how it affects the wearing experience on a smaller wrist etc. Cheers.

I 100% recommend it, though to be fair, I haven't tried any other aftermarket case backs. I believe the standard height is 14.5mm and it appears to now be thinner than my Roue TPS which is about 13.4mm. I didn't have the standard case back on for very long (like 3 days) before the Spiralwinder came and I swapped it out. My wrist is about 150mm or under 6 inches and I feel like the watch lays much more flat on my wrist. I think the design on the original case back would have become irritating over time. Being able to see the movement and the horizontal clutch is such a joy. When the watch needs a service, I'll probably have the Delrin brake replaced with the 2 piece metal design used on the early 861.

Has anyone taken their FOIS in for service yet? Mine is a 2016 production year, #6991. Mine hasn't been a daily wearer for a couple years now, still keeps good time but we're getting into the 7th year from purchase.

Watch is seen here with a 105.003 handset and the new Ed White bracelet, so not sure if it can qualify as an "FOIS" at this point but it definitely started out life as such.
