Hello from the new owner of FOIS no. 62xx. Purchased a few weeks ago from Monaco, it is my first Speedmaster and my first Omega. I'm surprised how quickly I've become attached, perhaps even more so than my other watches, irrespective of value, sentimental or otherwise...

Finding straps for the 19mm lugs is a bit of a pain - I currently alternate between a suede strap from Vintage Concept in Monaco, a 1125/560 bracelet, and a black/orange NATO from Smart Turnout in London. The last is probably my favourite (I'll post photos next time it's on the watch), but as it's 18mm, it's not a perfect fit and shows some spring-bar. From experience, the OEM 20mm Omega NATO bunches at the lugs, so that's a no as well...

    #7226 reporting for duty :)

One thing that I notice though, is that the tachometer seems to have a little offset with the 6, 9 and 12 hour markers, as if the tachometer is turned a little more to the right than it should be. You can kind of see it at the 9-hour marker on the picture above, which does not fully align with the 80.

    Any thoughts?

Can't tell anything from that pic - needs to be face on. Nice watch, though.

Am I correct in thinking that these have the same 1861 movement that is used in the CK2998?

FOIS finally arrived. No. 7363 checking in. Swapped the Omega strap for an embossed black alligator strap. Love this watch!

Has anyone else found that the lume on the minute hand is pants. Like - complete rubbish, and doesn't remain legible for more than a few minutes?

Thus far, and together with an ever-so-slightly misaligned hour chrono hand, it's my only serious complaint with this wonderful watch.

Yes, I also find the lume on the minute hand to be somewhat lacking compared to the hour hand.

It matches that of the original 2998s, but I think it really ought to be a wedge; longer than that of the hour hand; rather than a thin strip.

Exactly. Seems such an unfortunate oversight as it's driving me nuts.

Hey all! Very excited to have purchased my FOIS last Friday which doubles as my first "real watch" following wearing my Hamilton I received for graduation the past three years. Couldn't be more excited and constantly find myself staring down at my wrist thinking "it's just so good." Sitting right in the 6700's for this number. One thing I've been trying to figure out is the engraving above the hippocampus' head. Been combing the internet for what it is in reference too but no dice. Can anyone fill me in here?

Copyright mark. Relates to an Omega v Costco dispute.

I've read it's a faint laser etch supposedly to dissuade copies. My Seamaster has one as well.
