Just signed up! Picked up my first omega yesterday at a local AD. FOIS #5150 checking in! Loving it so far, definitely in a different class from the two nomos watches I have (tangente gangreserve and orion 1989). My only niggle would be that I wished it came with a hesalite crystal. I almost bought the standard speedy pro just for the hesalite - but the lack of crown guards, beveled subdials, straight lugs, applied logo, and alpha hands won me over! plus, 5150 was the last 4 digits of my phone all throughout college, which were the most destitute years of my life - a nice reminder to myself to appreciate how far I've come. :)

    enough blabbing; pic time!

Alam, which deployant clasp did you use and does it work with the Omega strap issued with the FOIS? Thanks

I'm using an Omega OEM deployant 94521613, this clasp does not work with the tang buckle-strap that the FOIS is sold. I got an aftermarket strap that fits perfectly on the deployant, is a very comfortable configuration IMO.

I've been 'umming and arrring' over a Speedmaster Pro for quite a few years now.

We were away last week and happened to pass an Ernest Jones jewellers in a designer outlet shopping centre. I popped in on the off chance to see if I could ogle a Speedy and get my wife's opinion. Anyhooo, they didn't have a Pro but did have a FOIS. So, I tried that on and actually preferred it. My wife fell in love and I left with the bloody thing (couldn't quite believe it).

I'm fairly sure I got an amazing deal (about 50% RRP). So, i'm now a proud owner of number 2880 in pristine condition! I'm a very happy chappy.

I got married last month an have a baby boy arriving imminently. So, this was a quasi wedding present come 16/21st birthday present for the boy ;)

(My wife got some earrings and a necklace)

I tried one on at the Vancouver Boutique. Really looked nice, a lot of wrist presence and the gold was not over powering.

Were there not enough threads with the extremely poorly named ck2998 already active?
