Well... yesterday was a turn up for the books, I'm absolutely buzzing and can't quite believe what happened so apologies for the waffling.

A friend knew I've been on the knock list at an AD for a couple of pieces here in the UK and reached out to see if I was interested in buying one of his pieces, a Datejust 36. A Datejust isn't one I'm on a list for but was on my radar as it's a stunning piece. We arranged to catch-up yesterday, meeting roughly halfway where I could pop into an AD to get the bracelet adjusted accordingly.

I arrived a little earlier and popped in to ask if an appointment was available, "of course, but are you registered with us?", was the response. I didn't think so and explained who I'm with and that I'm waiting on an Explorer and Submariner, "an Explorer?", was the response...

We began the process and I was chatting about why these, he stopped me and said, "forget the Submariner for now", then asked a colleague walking past, "would you bring out the Explorer to show the gentleman".

Gob-smacked is not the word and I just said, "you're kidding!".

An Explorer 224270 was then presented, I was informed that they had been reaching out to clients but in the current climate... as a one time offer which would not be repeated, would I be interested?

I'm on a list for an Explorer 36 and I know the 40 can be marmite but after trying it on, I just paid for it there and then. Now I know the current market but in my head during this time I was just thinking, this NEVER happens, you only hear stories/fairytales about walk-in purchases!?!

Wrist measured, I was then on my way and would be back to pick it up later as I got the Datejust resized...

When I caught up with my mate, he couldn't believe it! We went for a meal and then a celebratory drink before heading back.

Anyway enough waffle, may I present my humble entrance into Rolex ownership.

But you're still waiting on a Snoopy, aren't you?

🙁

I'm on the knock list with a different AD for the Snoopy, I was allocated to them by Omega HQ when my original AD dropped Omega, I then signed up for an Explorer & Sub - unsure now how to tell them I've got one 😒

Congrats! Wear in good health. The vintage Datejust are super cool but the new ones aren’t half bad and I like them a bit better, I think. My silver dialed one says “hi”

Great Datejust there!

One day I may start the search for a birth year one.

I can imagine your excitement—it's like something out of a watch enthusiast's dream! The unexpected turn of events with the Explorer must have been mind-blowing. And that Datejust sounds like a real gem too. It's like finding hidden gems in unexpected places. Speaking of which, have you guys checked out replica Panerai watches? I stumbled upon this link https://replicapanerai.io, and they've got some pretty impressive stuff there. It's stories like these that really make the watch community shine, don't you think?

Nice going. The datejust is an exceptional beauty.

As a sidenote, I think the datejust dial and handset would look amazing in a dive watch case, a bit like a Rolex 62MAS
