Finally it's a fake, I presume?

Short story: my husband went mad since I offered him a nice vintage Omega watch, which I naïvely believe to be authentic ( and according the seller who is a reliable one). So, yesterday he went mad again with a RADO DiaStar he bought straight away. I know nothing - or almost nothing - BUT I have understood - thanks to this forum - that you can't trust everyone concerning watches.... Immediately began my research, immediately I found that India is/was a huge production site of fake RADO DiaStar, with chinese mouvements, and that if he got an authentic RADO we should go directly to Las Vegas for the week-end...! The seller -kind of honest, though,- mentionned the caliber is a 2813-2. If I had had ten second BEFORE he paid the watch, I could have said " stop!"! But no, it was a mythic, iconic watch and so on.... Today, can you confirm that ETA 2813-2 caliber is a chinese movement, and my husband had his first lesson in watch hunting ? Ha! Ha!. ps: I found the dial suspicious too at first sight...

So which is it, as 2813-2, or 2823-2?

It's likely neither, and an ETA 2824-2, which is not Chinese, but Swiss.

Thank you for answering @Archer: Well the seller said it was an ETA 2813-2. ! I have seen on the internet that ETA 2813 were Chinese movements. Ok I know we should have the watch opened to be quite sure of what kind of movement it is. But I wonder if the seller would have made such a mistake.... With a Swiss movement the watch could probably be considered as genuine, I guess... but I still find the dial suspicious...
Thank you @gatorcpa. I am going to have a look on your link.

There is no ETA 2813-2. It may possibly be a DG2813, which is a Chinese made movement, but it's not ETA then...

OK. So the seller is entirely unreliable. We should have the watch opened. I have not a good feeling, though. Pretty sure it's a fake....Thank you. He has not received the watch yet...

That’s too bad I actually like those diastars. I like the chunky case with the short lug to lug. They were flowing quite regularly in my area for a while so I didn’t rush to get one now they have become so saturated with fakes I don’t really bother. Wish I grabbed one that was selling locally for a while last year but I could never get a solid meeting time with the guy. These fakes in seiko, rado and so many other brands take a lot of the fun out of watches. I’m not out to rip any one off or hand someone counterfeit money we should all approach each other proper, perhaps that’s happening in an alternate universe and I’m just stuck in this one.

I hate fakes, the people who make them and sell them particularly, and the people who purchase them with their BS [fill in the blank] excuse for why. What should be an exciting moment - after finding a watch you have been seeking, agreeing on a price, taking delivery, opening the box, checking it out and being fairly satisfied it's real - you are still left with the pernicious doubt that it might be fake. Id rather not have to spend an hour with a loupe looking carefully at every watch I purchase. I get the most excited now about watches I've checked the fake sites for, and am sure nobody is making a replica of it (yet).

All the nukes we have between Britain and the US, and we haven't used any of them to vaporize replica factories... 😡

Sorry to hear. Don't know where your husband got his, but if you search for Rado Diastar on Ebay, you can see tons of them, most selling for less than $100 including shipping from India. All of them claim to be serviced, refurbished vintage ones, and each seller has sold dozens of the identical ones. Since they are so cheap, I guess they (Ebay) expect you to know that these are not real.
