Giroud seems slightly hurt. Besides, Thuram coming in could result in another improbable story. His dad rescued France in the 1998 semi-final game against Croatia by scoring two goals. It'd be quite something if the son was to achieve something similar in a final 24 years later.

More realistically, Argentina seems firmly in control, especially in the midfield, therefore denying Mbappé of any ammunition.

Well we (I’m French) are just outplayed so far !
We will see if we can find the ressources to fight back and be able to get some munitions and use them… quite a mountain in front of us.

Seems to be a game of control, and Argentina is firmly in. I'm rooting for Argentina, but still want France to get in the game...blowouts in finals are a bit of a bore.

I'm French too, and so far my feeling is that the team has failed to show up at the match. Our defense has been shaky all tournament, and the absence of Kanté and Pogba in the midfield has been partly hidden by Griezmann's polyvalence. But during this first half, we were simply nowhere.

That's a beautiful expression! Aggregating ubiquity with pluripotency in a way I doubt an Anglophone would have come up with. Worthy of Arsène Wenger, and so true.

Stupid substitution taking Di Maria out. For the life of me I cant understand teams going into a defensive shell and welcoming pressure when in the lead. That substitution totally changed the complexion of the game.

For anyone here in Qatar during the games, there are some great deals on watches here. Rolex is king, but their prices are usually better than market. As for Omega and IWC and other brands, great bargains. I have picked up a few. Location is the old gold souq, not the gold souq across from souq waquif.

I was lucky enough to be in Paris four years ago for France’s win and to witness firsthand the ensuing celebration.

I assumed that would be the football highlight of my life.

Well, sitting at home in Canada and watching it on TV, that match smashed that assumption… what an incredible thing to witness. Congratulations to all the Argentinians here.

Wow.
