Does winding it while you're wearing it cause stress on the stem? As I read that it is most ideal to wind with the watch off your wrist but this may have been for the 1861?

Yea there’s a risk, I once did it with my hamilton khaki field and it all went bananas. Had to send it in to swatch. So as a rule, I always take it of my wrist before winding

I used my Speedy 861 daily for the last 30 years now. No problem winding it, it is a pleasure actually. I wind it everyday before putting it on. But, if you want it as a one and only for the rest of your life, as it was said before choose a well tried and proven 861or 1861. The 3861 still has many issues.
