Fear of polish?

It all comes down to who does it and with what. Many watchmakers just free-hand it on a buffing wheel, and that can be bad in the hands of some people. Authorized service or factory service, they have special machines and fixtures to guarantee a factory finish.

These images are not particularly inspiring.

The original bracelet has polished highlites on the thin center links, they have been buffed away. And the clasp isn't particularly well refinished either. Sloppy polishing like that would eliminate it for me. I have a 2017 Speedmaster that still looks new, I don't know why it would require a polish being four years old unless it had a really hard life. Polishing expertly done by someone who knows what they are doing is acceptable, but not in this case. You can do better. It's good that you are asking for advice instead of charging ahead and making an expensive mistake.

Agreed. The owner probably wore it hard and wanted it to look new when selling it. I would also pass on this one

I’ve got to say it would take a braver man than me to buy something like a high-end watch off Facebook.

I might, but not sight-unseen. And, I am not kidding when I say I've worn a gun to consummate some Craigslist deals.

No watch is worth it if you need to take a gun along to do the deal, in my book.

My local police department offers a safe zone for those kinds of transactions, nowadays.

Plus, I was selling, not buying. Not watches, but otherwise valuable stuff.

A moment of weakness! I feel like I just had an intervention and realized my ways, haha. There are better ways to spend my watch hunting time.

To be fair I got very good friend there who trades watches and he never disappointed me. But the caption of this thread really caught my eye 😀

Czech that. You are Russian to a decision. Besides, it's not German to the topic. Besides, it's all Greek to me. I Swiss it wasn't, but I Canada help it.
