Here is a picture of mine (all the way screwed in) for reference...

I would have this looked at. Here is mine for reference.

It doesn't surprise me the OP didn't come back. He posted here with a serious question and the first several responses were nothing but smart ass jokes. I see it all the time. Not just here but other forums as well. It's not funny and it doesn't create an environment for first time people to want to come back.

Were you able to get your helium escape valve sorted out? I'm curious as to what your dealer said, or if this could be normal for a 2201.50? My Planet Ocean Helium escape valve doesn't screw down flush either.

It's hard to tell from your photo if there's a problem. It doesn't look as extended out as the OP's, but it doesn't look as flush as my 2201.50 (photo below).

That said, I wouldn't worry about it if it passed water pressure testing. My belief is that the helium valve tube hasn't been fully inserted into the case. But as long as there is a good seal between the tube and case and the tube and crown, I would suspect that's a cosmetic problem. Hopefully @Archer will stop in as I'm sure he will know what the issue is (if it is an issue).

To be sure, I would recommend taking the watch to an Omega certified watchmaker if you have one you area to be inspected.

His question was answered by the third reply. He wasn’t offended at the jokes if you read his post in the thread. No need for you to keep running down this forum. It has its flaws but it’s much better than every other forum I’ve been on…

Nope. Don't condone A-hole behavior.
Old jokes about helium in watches is hardly A-hole behavior. You’re wound a little too tight.

Thanks so much for your input and picture. I will indeed take it to be looked at soon, just to be safe. I think/hope you are correct in it being a cosmetic problem. Maybe the helium valve tube can simply be inserted further into the case by Omega and correct the gap, without too much work and time involved.

Do you really think a first time poster thought the "joke" was funny?

A lot of people don't like to join forums and this kind of behavior is a major reason for it. I've been on forums of different types for last 25 years and I've about seen it all. I was recently listening to the Worn & Wound podcast (#382) and both Zach Kazan and Kat Shoulders said when they were first starting to get into watches they joined various watch forums and didn't post or didn't post much because of the behavior of longer term users. This is not uncommon.

So when a new member posts a valid question, I think it's best to answer them, post something encouraging, or not post at all.

damo125 posted this at the end of his 2nd post.

"I wasn’t aware of the risk of escaping helium but my voice has been a bit squeaky recently…. 😀"

Seems to me the poster was able to understand the humor concerning helium and made his own joke. The only one with his nose out of joint is you.

Which was his last post on this site.

He got his answer and thanked everyone for their help. If you are suggesting he was driven away by the responses in this thread, there is zero evidence of that.

Several posts seem to imply that helium might “escape” from the watch. I am under the impression that the helium in the air breathed by those in under water habitats can ENTER the watch, and the helium escape valve is meant for the purpose of allowing entrapped helium to escape. But normally, helium is not typically in these cases.

Maybe it didn`t happen this time, but in general I agree with @502 to right 100%. Some of you behave like teenagers, "the really cool ones", from time to time. And some of you get really pissy when the tables turn.

Do we want this forum to grow and get bigger? Some years ago I could spend hours on here with just the new posts, now its done in 15 min.

The forum is a victim of its own popularity and the increasing exposeure on the internet.

This has resulted in many more "FIFO" posters who inherit/find/buy or steal an Omega and the first place they look for info is "Omega" on the internet and they land here.

Early on, posters seemed to be more polite and welcomed feedback, even though sometimes it wasn't what they wanted to hear.

I've notice an increase in in brief posts from newcomers with little more that a quick question (value etc) and a fuzzy picture.

After a while this becomes tiresome and when I see this form of first post I usually just ignore it, I suspect many of out regular members are starting to feel the same.

In this case, the OP had an issue with his He valve.
He got an answer, and even responded with humour.
The fact that he hasn't been seen for a while may indicate that he was simply after an answer and he's gone, or he may have other issues in life bigger than browsing a watch forum every day.

I'm now going to enjoy a chilled Coopers Stout.

It appears that thread might have been before I started on the message board.
