I'm not sure if there is a thread for this as I couldn't find it (but there should be) where pros like you can help us pick a vintage without getting ripped off.

Here's one I found:

Fake or real?

Genuine but the dial has been refinished killing the value and the movement is badly in need of a service.

This would be one to avoid regardless of price.

Thanks x350! How can you tell about the movement?
Those stains in the silver colored wheels don’t look good...😉

And the regulator has been adjusted to an extreme position.

Too bad. I liked that one. Alternatively there's this one, but not sure it's worth the $400

Refinished dial too. More concerning is the second hand pinion is missing or broken, this caliber should have a second hand.

Good catch. And how can you tell the dial was refinished?

Thanks for sharing. Going to study it well. Unfortunately, just from the first few points, most of the finds I saw on ebay didn't meet up ... Maybe the more expensive ones do. In that case, what's a reasonable price range for a good Seamaster (ie. 60s) ?
