Oh look the MB has the longest wheelbase again… not a huge surprise.

Looking forward to see how these profile tyres work in slo-mo in the slow speed corners.

Never thought the classic slow motion footage of tyre wall oscillation (although fascinating) showed the cars/engineering in a good light.

I’m digging the new cars except the Ferrari but everyone seems to think it’s the best looking…

I think they dropped the ball livery wise and the Ferrari looks boring.

Not much a designer can do when the color choices are red, red, or red.

Another set of comparisons and it looks like McLaren may just have the longest wheelbase. At first glance Aston Martins appears longer than the Mercs as well, but both the front and rears are set back further. McLaren is definitely longer.

Alpine's 2022 car:

"the team will start the season using a different, ‘flipped’ colour scheme. It will run a predominantly pink colour scheme over the opening two races, highlighting its new sponsorship deal."

Car looks better in the blue with the pink accents vs the pink with blue accents.

For sure.
But did anyone see the "naked" Ferrari. Oof. So good.

2 other bits of potentially big news circulating...

Andretti getting close to entering an American F1 team?
Porsche (Audi/VW) getting close to entering F1 with a partnership with Red Bull?

Also...first day of testing, but no coverage of any kind.

I try not to read into the testing times, but LeClerc was only ~2 seconds off last years FP1 times in Barcelona.

I highly doubt that rumor about VAG going with RB. Honda re entered F1 with RB’s success last year. They seem to be committed to upgrading and building that plant.

my money is on Alpine being sold by Renault as they have no engine customers, or VAG will go with the upcoming Andretti team that seems all but inevitable at this point.

could also go to Alfa as the team doesn’t really have a tie with Ferrari anymore at this point and is still the Sauber team operating as Alfa.

It is my understanding that Honda officially withdrew from F1 at the end of the season, but has agreed to let RB continue to use their PU through the end of 2025.
2026 is probably when we would see VAG enter the sport.

There have also been rumors about Audi trying to acquire McLaren - road car and F1 teams included.

my understanding is that Hondas stance changed… but yes the new engine is 2026 right? So that also makes sense with VAG in 2026.

Ohh FYI all.

VAG = Volkswagen Audi Group who owns everything in Europe that doesn’t say BMW or Mercedes Benz on it.

VW
Audi
Porsche
Lamborghini
Bentley
Seat
Skoda
And like 10 others it seems.

The other F1 teams don't sound too enthusiastic about Andretti joining up making 11 teams and the FIA hasn't exactly came out with a ringing endorsement either. It probably has to do with the prize money payout for the top 10 teams and #11 basically getting nothing.

Yeah I thought I saw that somewhere too, but now I can;t find any info about that.
And yes, new engines for 2026

It sounds like almost a done deal, as Andretti Autosport is willing (and can) pay the $200 million "entry fee".
However they are waiting for the OK from the maFIA
