Congratulations to Max on a dominant race and Red Bull for a 1-2 finish. It was also good to see Lando on the podium.

Obviously it was a disappointing weekend for Ferrari with Charles literally sliding down to finish sixth while Sainz’s bad luck continues.

Too bad we didn’t get to see a tight battle between Russell and Bottas for fourth.
George-y is the man in F1 today. He’s sneaky good & definitely not in LH’s shadow…

Lando with his 6th podium now, 2nd in a row in Imola. Massive turnaround for McLaren and has to be painful to see for Mercedes that their customer team has that much more pace with their own engine.

Agree about Lando, solid job there. But if Mercedes are getting sooooo much more downforce to generate that extreme cetaceaness and they can fix the problem perhaps they will be left with more aerodynamic grip than the rest and have a good run in the later part of the season?

I’m not entirely sure I buy the whole “Our problem is our car is so good and makes so much downforce that it causes us to porpoise worse than the rest and have to compromise setup” excuse. McLaren used to do this same thing, go out on a limb with some oddball idea like the Mercedes side pod packaging and say how amazing its peak downforce was but ended up with a slow car.

Yea, was a shame for him but he was doing his best and took responsibility for the mistake afterwards which is a rare sign of self awareness and humility in a racing driver.

yes, that was gracious of him.

I saw Daniel also take ownership of the crash with Sainz.
I saw Seb also take ownership of not doing as well as he could have.
In 2021 Yuki has also taken ownership of this mediocre performance in several races.
George as well in 2021 when he was with Williams.
So, quite few drivers are self aware.....& I know i am missing few others....

Did anyone else notice Nico point out how Russ was outdriving Ham to the Sky F1 commentators, only to be ignored about it?

I know people will argue he's bitter, and in a sense rightfully so, but facts are facts, and it's too bad that the commentators haven't spoken about that or hardly mentioned how good Russ has been at extracting performance from the car in comparison to his 7 time WC teammate. He's been in front in every race finish with the exception of Bahrain which he finished a place behind.

It will be interesting to see how this one will end between the two. Last time Ham was beaten was with Roseberg, and if memory serves, before that was Jenson at MacLaren.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how it plays out, if Porsche joins with RedBull that is an extremely threatening F1 team and an enormous competitor to Mercedes which makes me wonder if Mercedes will stay in or just leave in 2025 to avoid the head to head. I’d like to see Germany’s heavy hitters go after eachother so I hope they stay.

The only other thing that bothers me a bit is I find Max’s complaining and sooking to be a bit poor… thanks to movies and their extensive marketing there’s a sort of ideal you have of what a works Porsche driver looks like and should be, and its a bit more George Russell / Lando Norris / Charles Leclerc than a guy that moans on the radio constantly.

“As you may be aware, Miami is no Las Vegas, and it has plenty of water nearby, and boats are not something uncommon. However, the organizers of the Formula 1 race did not get approval to build the track near a body of water, and a street circuit built in what is essentially a car park was deemed insufficient for the venue.

So, the result is a fake harbor with real boats, but with fake water. The latter is vinyl that is printed to look like water. Now, anyone who has seen a body of water in real life may be aware that there is something off with this one, but everyone just hopes for the best from this point of view.”

Too funny

Back when F1 went to Albert Park in Melbourne in 1996 they wanted to make it look more sophisticated and upscale. The lake in Albert Park is pretty small, 49 ha or 120 acres, but they trucked in some big yachts similar to what you see in Monaco and lifted them into the water giving the impression that they were moored there. At least they were real boats on real water, now it's real boats on fake water. It's all about the image.

Interesting to see Mercedes a bit stronger but they’ve got a ways to go yet it seems. Not sure if Miami will be suitable for overtaking aside from DRS down the back straight given how narrow it is in the twisty bits but I’m picturing a couple of red flags shaking things up.

lots of red flags during FP1, 2 & 3. The cars cannot seem to find the grip for the various hellacious corners of the circuit!
Ferrari front row lockout with the challengers in row2. Hope it's a good race tomorrow with the RB cars being competitive thru the entire race....

Less than two hours to green lights. My prediction to win......

....whoever benefits most from the Safety Car or Red Flags. I hope they are all wearing their lucky underpants and/or favourite Rosary 😁

When I was getting started in motorsport a doctor who was in the same club told me the best preparation was to visit the toilet immediately before climbing into the car. That way if you did damage yourself internally in a crash the medics would have an easier time getting you cleaned up, and a much lower chance of infection.
