I didn't watch a lot of replays... but was it his fault?

The magnitude of that wreck was unbelievable. Truly mind blowing that he walked out of it. The effort and resources that F1 have dedicated to driver safety was evident.

Equally impressive was the sight of so many track officials running at full tilt toward that massive blaze.

Racing incident. He was trying to avoid an event in front of him. He clipped another car and went straight into the wall.

This was a deadly accident for sure a few years ago. The halo saved him. And since we also had one on top of its halo later during the race I think there will be no discussion anymore about the “slipper”.

Crazy... I'm sure after today he'll be ready to leave the sport. He looked pretty traumatised.

What on earth happened to that fuel cell?!? the position of it as well as the strength of it would require some rather incredible force to overcome, I almost hope it was improper installation or something because this was meant to be well and truly in the "fixed" category.

That was one of the worst crashes I saw in the last years. Happy that the Halo saved him, in the past he would sadly not be anymore with us.

It was amazing to see him walk out of the fire and climb over that barrier.

53G on impact, 26 seconds in the flames. And all that’s happened to him is a few light burns to his wrists.

Yes, Motorsport is dangerous. But I’m completely stunned about what they’ve achieved in terms of safety.

I saw some estimates of 50 tonnes lateral load on the engine mounts - they tore through pretty instantly and the engine took the fuel collector lines with it hence the big bang. I can't really believe he stayed conscious. The suits are rated for 30 seconds in a fuel fire, and he was in around 25 seconds. If you look at the video you can see him first trying to squeeze out through the barrier before heading over the top. All the while while holding his breath. So close.... and he was a loud anti-halo driver!

I’m quite sure he might have changed his opinion right then and there.

What are the chances that Grosjean is healthy enough to drive next weekend? Will we see the return of the Hulk or will Haas use Fittipaldi or Deletraz?

I would say not likely since he burned his hands.

I agree but hopefully Grosjean will be able to drive at the season finale at Abu Dhabi.

@8100_RPM

Whilst a nice thought having seen his broadcast from his hospital bed and the way his hands looked in bandages I would say it is virtually certain he won't be anywhere near healed enough to drive in the last race this season.

I‘m not sure Niki Lauda would approve of this message.

On a serious note: I wonder if Mick Schumacher might be an option. Which would mean that he’d likely lose the F2-Championship, though.
