Have been on quite the watch journey the past 2 years. I like to think of it as a journey and not a buy a new watch and sell the old one at a loss description!!!

I am very much a one watch person and have found it with my new from an AD 3861 Sapphire on a bracelet. Turns out I like shiny things and am in love with it. This is my forever watch and can’t be any happier.

Very much appreciate all the help the members here have given with all of the info in past posts. Thank you for that.

If I am allowed to ask a few questions, I would really appreciate it.

1) is it normal for the minute chronograph sub dial to advance just under a second before the chronograph hand passes 60 seconds? Hopefully that description makes sense

2) I’m a sucker for straps and bought from the AD an Omega nato and an Omega Velcro. I’ve read that there are different spring bars you are supposed to use when not using the bracelet. Can you use the bracelet spring bars or did they (the AD) forget to give me additional spring bars?

Thanks again for the consideration to my questions and this is an amazing timepiece!

Congrats.

1. Yes
2. Bracelet is 068ST2207, for straps you want to use the 2208. I would ask your AD to supply then gratis but they should not cost you more than €$£4 each.

If there was ever a "forever, one watch" the Speedmaster is one of the best candidates out there. You chose well. Congratulations, and I wish you many, many years of happy and healthy wearing!

Thank you for this! I went to the AD who sold me the watch and the straps. They were not aware but were kind enough to order me the 2208s. $25 USD total. Ok by me since it is directly from Omega.

Question if I’m allowed.

Is there any risk to use the spring bars for the bracelet with a nato or the Velcro straps.

Sorry for what must seem like simpleton questions but I’m very excited and am starting my learning journey.

Appreciate any guidance.

How many did you get and is shipping cost in the amount, personally I would get a spare set of 2207's and 2 sets of the 2208 so I have back-up?
Not really a risk but Omega recommends the 2208 for straps, here's professional advise;

Congrats on a great watch. You will love it more as time goes by.

This all comes from my knowledge of the 1861. The 2207 bars are slightly shorter and easier to get on and off with the bracelet. The 2208 is a bit longer and meant for straps and natos. I don't think wearing the strap with a 2207 would have any risk.

You can buy springbars direct from Omega (just email [email protected]). I am in the US and have done it a few times. They were $4 with $10 shipping if you order 1 or 100. I ordered 10 to have a supply on hand.

They ordered two pairs. Included shipping. It was a manual order in their system so it may only be 2, one pair.

That’s a perfect description regarding the spring tension.
Don’t plan on any rubber straps. Don’t find them as comfortable as a bracelet or nato. Currently rocking my new Speedy on a grey Omega nato. I know it is sacrilegious but I cut off the double pass as I have never found that comfortable and it makes the strap more sleek. Thanks again!!!!!!

Hard to choose and that I guess that is the wonderful thing about all of the OEM and aftermarket 20mm straps.

Just put on the one piece Velcro strap and it is pretty comfortable. Even more so than the nato. May be an issue in the warmer months but I'm assuming that this can go in the laundry. The bracelet is very nice but wow on the comfort of the nato and Velcro.

You would be ok for most situations using the shorter bracelet bars with NATO or Velcro straps, but Omega specs out the slightly longer bars for straps. The prior 1861 Speedmaster had NATO straps included as freebies and Omega included longer spring bars in the box, so they obviously believe longer bars are better with straps.

068ST2207 is 22.428 mm long for bracelets
068ST2208 is 23.317 mm long for straps

NEVER use the longer 2208 bars with a bracelet, you will have a devil of a time removing them in the future. Much cursing will ensue, along with tool marks on the back of the lugs in the effort to remove the longer bars. Don't cross the streams.
