Eterna Matic

Hi all
I have my grandad eterna Matic 300 seven day watch here
It is all 9k bracelet and 18k face.
I think it is very rare and cannot find anyone to help me discover more about it.
Every jeweller wants to scrap it for the gold value as it weighs close to 70g.
But I want to know if it is worth reparing and servicing to sell to a collector.
Or is it just a standard watch
It was engraved in the back for him Christmas 1978 but I'm sure it is very much earlier.

I usually wear manual-wind Longines but when I feel like an auto, my wife's grandather's watch that I found in an old box and had serviced does just fine. My wife and her dad loved seeing it running nicely again. Beautiful, spotless silver dial I can't capture right with my iphone.

Recently into our hobby, I've decided to focus more on this major underrated brand.
As for my limited budget, I'm hoping they will still stay longer in the shadow

Cal 1246TC (1952)

Cal 1237UC (1952)

Cal 1416U (1957)

Cal 1422U (1958)

'Centenaire 61' Cal 1428U (1960)

Cal 1439U (1964)

'Sevenday' Cal 1501K (1969)

Cal 1489K

And as bonus track, I'm adding a screen shot of the serial number table

And finally a group shot on the (corporate?) Eterna's book

Almost forgot about this thread. Lots of beauties thus far, but not so many early bumpers. These pre-full rotor (i.e. "Eterna-Matic") dials had "automatic" printed on them:

Beautiful collection, Yves! 🥰

A chronometer would also be a fine addition...👍

... and my others:

Addendum: I thought I had added the all-important back of the Kontiki 😬:

Eterna introduced the Kontilki line in 1958.
They made a Black Sport version and a white dress version.
Both were considered diving watches. Both versions were also
available with or without date function. Both versions were also
available in either 36.5mm(w/o crown) or 34.5mm.
You've already seen my black 1958 36.5mm sport version.
Here's my 1958 36.5mm dress version Kontiki.

Here is the second iteration of the white dress-diver, from 1959-60.

In retrospect foolishly listed this piece a while back, not to be repeated.

A two piece dial, how many others have this little quirk ?

wow. I'm a pretty big admirer of eterna, but my collection pales in comparison to some of these. I don't own all of these any longer, but most of them. still, sharing is caring, so here they are in their meager glory:

I think it's 20th anniversary of
Thor's raft journey in 1948.

Makes sense. My watch is circa 1968. Thanks
