Just bought this today off eBay. First pocket watch I bought in years. Been wanting a British Navy deck watch so nocked one off the want list. This has an Elgin 22 jewel BW Raymond movement same movement that they used in railroad watches. Figure these were from the lend lease program to help supply our allies in WW2. They also used this same movement in the US Army Air Corps navigation watch but that had a black 24-hour dial. Had to pay a 50-buck tariff for something that was made in the USA does that make sense.

That movement is attractive.

What is the diameter of this Elgin.

about 51mm size. Since it uses the same size movement as a railroad watch 16 size.

Here is the US Army Air Corps version. The metal canister case is to protect from damage from flack and springs for stability and case is anti-magnetic. It has a 22-jewel movement up-jeweled from 21 for the sweep hand, but they needed these fast so they used railroad 21 jewel parts so on the movement is 21 jewels they used what they had later ones were marked 22 jewels.
