Ebay Vintage Omega Seller - Needs Some Help

Man, you are REALLY proving how bad you are! Just like a typical eBay seller who omits pertinent information on their watch to conceal the WHOLE truth, you're omitting the important part of that definition to bias it in your favor. You left off the ending: "to a former or original condition". Go read the other thread and how we called out the seller on that trick.

I hope everyone is taking note of his argument and tactics. It's exactly the things that experienced collectors hate about dubious sellers. As Norm said - what they don't say is more important than what they do say.

Sure, in your world every eBay seller is bad, and you are one great customer. Well sad

Next time you get a listing taken down I would just take in on the chin if I were you, because this new marketing strategy you have embarked on I fear may not work out that well. Although If you ask nicely I am sure some kind members will bump you up the threads now and again just to keep you in peoples minds.
Goodnight all, it has been emotional lol

The majority of my watches, and those of the membership here at large come from eBay, its probably the best source for vintage Omegas around. Its also a complete minefield at times due to people trying to claim frankenwatches as restored originals. We've actually got several eBay selling dealers on here, and I can't think of one of them that would agree with you.

What? They're in business to make money clearly... and do you honestly think the average watch buyer can look at an aftermarket bezel under a loupe and tell the difference between that and the original without being told? Rolex make diamond bezels and dials too, the key difference is that they charge dramatically more for those items than aftermarket ones can be sold for.

There is no average buyer, everybody knows what they are buying

And how is that?

Does the average buyer know that Omega never made an electric blue dialed vintage Seamaster?

That's fair enough, but it doesn't answer the question either. Is it refinished as it was originally, or as a Seamaster /should/ be or does it have a customised electric blue finish that was never found on a vintage Seamaster and is incorrect for a Seamaster?

It has nothing to do with that, listing clearly states 2 times dial refinished.

Nope, there are great sellers - some are members here like Norm / member X350 XJR. Others that I've bought watches from (and so have other members) are 333watch, fabsuisse, and horologysuisse to name a few. Alex in Mexico is a favorite and always seems to come up with blue chip vintage pieces. Kelaran straps, aka soulsis78556h, is a well recommended strap maker. Scott from timesofplenty is a great source for vintage straps and bracelets, and a stand up guy. I could go on for a while.

In short, there are plenty of excellent seller so don't try making broad generalizations because you're pissed and want to get in a parting shot before you take your ball and go home. All I ask is that a seller be HONEST. Deception, either through strategic biasing of words or omission of fact, is what we hate and will expose when asked.

You don't get it, do you? You can go on & on all night and EVERYONE is against you. Dude, take my earlier advice and go back to your corner of eBay. You're only making yourself look worse and you won't get any new customers this way.

What else do you want me to say in my listing. Here is what i say in the listing, Went Thru Complete Service+ refinished dial. How much more i can add?

OK, let's consider for a moment this:

The following watch is from a Ukrainian seller, its a converted Omega pocket watch. The dial has been refinished to make it look like a pocket watch, the case has been replaced with an aftermarket one, the hands are replacements as is the strap, but the movement is a real Omega pocket watch movement. Now is this an Omega? Or is it a fake? Or is it a frankenwatch?

Well to continue the thought, if eBay permitted people to sell fake Seamaster Pro watches with ETA movements, would that be ok? The movement would be the same ETA as the real one, and I'm sure it would look closer to an original watch than this pocket watch conversion does. I'm sure people would buy it happily hoping they could convince their friends it was real. Would that be a step too far, or is that just meeting market demand?

It has nothing to do with eBay, there is federal laws that stop this in place. Why you think people are not smart when it comes to buying? Everybody knows what they are buying. Most buyers on eBay buy with CC and can always do a charge-back.

I have to disagree. I was and still am a novice vintage watch "amasser". When I first started out, I would have bought your watch if not for the good people here. But they thought me what a collector looks out for. For every one of me who looks for forums and internet for information, there are 10 others who see a nice watch and buy them without much batting of an eyelid. You do not want them to regret buying from you after learning more.
Just a suggestion, you may want to leave out the 9.5/10 rating as if you are referring to condition, I believe the buyer can see that from your nice pictures. And collectors will not see you as trying to mislead buyers. And on the refinished dial, I have seen other sellers describing theirs as being refinished not to the original state. You may lose some buyers at first but at least you give your would be buyers a more informed purchase. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the input will consider it for sure. By any means i am not trying to mislead the buyer, because if buyer is not happy item gets return or charge-back i am trying to be as clear with my description as i can.
