I have already observed 145.022-74 with 39.18 mio serial, so no worry, everything should be correct in my opinion

Please can you tell me more about that watch, and also how you were sure it was all original? That could really help me out in the future if I wanted to sell and had to argue it's authenticity with a collector. Although my plan now is to pass this down to my son, that could change.

You can see my serial number in the photos above is 39,183,xxx so the first 4 digital are the same as the one you saw.

speedy4ever spent years researching the moonwatch and he is one of the 2 authors of the recently released book entitled "Moonwatch" that is is the definitive reference on the model. So I would be inclined to trust what he says on the matter 馃槈

I have a 145.022 71 with a 328 serial number and it already has a delrin brake according to the moonwatch book they started using it in the early 70ties. Before i read it there i also thought they started to use it in the beginning of the 80ties 馃憥

Yes delrin brake seems to have been introduced on movements with serial around 32.849 - 32.850 and installed indifferently in 145.022-69, -71 and -74. Interestingly, one can see 145.022-71 and -74 with steel brake, because they were fitted with early movements in 31 million range.

Thanks! I received my "Moonwatch Only" book yesterday.

I also received my Extract of the Archives, dated 7/22/14 from the Omega Museum, which states that my 145.022-74 with serial number 39,183,XXX was produced October 21, 1976. So the 1974 case-back would not be totally out of place when it was pulled from the parts bin.

It was delivered to the USA with the 1171 bracelet that I bought with it.

The official Omega serial number chart that was pulled offline a while back had put the 39 million serial number as a 1975-1976 production, but the Roman Hartmann chart was what was throwing us off track with a 1979 dating.

Mystery solved, but I could have saved some money on the Extract if I had just listened to you.

But Larry, as you mentioned earlier the money you have now spent on the extract have given you a rock solid provenance for the watch. Worthwhile, if not absolutely necessary.
