My 1971 Air King Date. I won it in 1971, as a prize in a Rolex sales contest. It came to me direct from Rolex in its vinyl case with the hang tag. The price in 1971? ....................... $215.00 (Cdn.) the bracelet is not genuine Rolex. My kid wrecked it when he wore the watch for less than one year.

Getting back to 6605s....馃槈

I have owned 2 of these beautiful references, 18K with orange enamel dial and 9K. Sadly neither is with me now.

Could be out of a 2016 catalogue... that is only one reason why quite often a Rolex is still considered "as good as cash".

What other companies managed to pull that off ?

This is a fantastic thread. Let's keep it going.
To the OP, if you wish, change the thread topic to "Early/Vintage Rolex-show us yours!", or something like that, so it's not limited to 6605s only. 馃榾

OK, as the OP, and due to popular demand will open this thread to all Early/Vintage Rolex!

OK, here's another! ref 6634.
I love the suntanned patina of the dial. Your watch would be so much more elegant with a proper sized strap.

oh, do the dearly departed ones count for this thread?
if so, here's my (former) 6569 from 1957 with engine bezel and blue seconds hand...(too small for me at 34mm, else would have never left the collection)

Yup, mine is a redial, like many old rolexes of the period. I don't think it looks horrible and, since it's not for sale ever, it doesn't bother me a bit.
Sorry if you didn't like it. 馃榾
