Dynamic added to the collection with 'Moon Dust' Dial?

Just in - I had a couple of missing movements from my small Dynamic collection and also wanted to get this particular dial so this seemed to tick a number of boxes, (& it was also a reasonable price!). It's taken a bit of 'battle damage' over the years (small scratch in the dial at 12 O'Clock) but as far as I can see it's all original, working well and overall it's doing OK for something around 50+ years old! I'd read somewhere that this particular dial was supposed to represent 'moon dust' as it was produced in the Apollo era? Can anyone validate this and does anyone have a catalogue picture that they can share?

What you call moon dust is just aging (detoriation) commonly seen on dark dials

No, it’s a textured dial, not ageing or deterioration. You will see them about if you do some Google searching. Perhaps it’s my photos that aren’t showing it to it’s best!

You're correct, it's a textured dial. Unfortunately I don't have any Omega catalog info for you.

You have an awesome Dynamic collection too! I only have 3 currently, and one is a "moondust" or "stardust" similar to yours.
In normal light, the dial looks black or dark gray. Under high intensity light like your photo, you really see the charcoal gray color and begin to see the texture. Under a 10x loupe, you really see the details. I tried to capture it with my clip-on macro lens. Not the best focus, but you can see the red and gold grains along with the gray texture.

Before I bought my watch, I just missed buying a member's automatic version. Here are some good pictures of his dial with the crystal removed. You can see the dial texture even without a loupe:

Yours looks like it is in great shape! It’s hard to show on photos just how nice this particular dial is and when it catches the light just right it’s really pretty. If I ever manage to track down a catalogue photo I’ll update this thread.

These are from a 1970-71 catalogue.

It looks like they called this dial "stardust bronze" -

...and here are the prices from July 1970 & February 1971 - there was a price increase !

166.039 is the blue bullseye dynamic near the fold at the edge of the pages above. The bracelet plain dial version is was cheaper.

This looks to be the period when the UK moved from imperial currency to decimal.

I’ve been hunting for catalogue pictures for this dial for a while but not been able to find anything so this is brilliant, many thanks. Good also to get confirmation on the official name of the dial colour - ‘Stardust bronze’.

I used to have one of these, there's something really appealing about them. Was one of my favourite Dynamics for a while & it's still a wearable style if your wrist isn't too huge.

If I get a chance I'll dig around in some of my other old catalogues to see if any other interesting photos turn up.

I love this Dynamic too, awesome condition.
I'm wondering now if Stardust Bronze refers to yours or mine, or both? Your dial appears more of a chocolate brown color, while mine skews more toward charcoal. Or the dial color may have varied based on the year of manufacture.
