Hi everybody,
Recently I was lucky to acquire 2 UGs: a Compax (below) and a Tri-Compax (will be posted once I receive it). I would love to share it here with the forum members and hoping to gain more knowledge as well as to see if there's anyone have a similar piece (I'm sure some of you guys have it as well).
The Compax received yesterday has a ref. of 22703-1, in a very good original condition: a unusually large 40.5mm case, rotating bezel, blued hands, albino white dial & subdials aged to a slight yellowish tone, and to top it up is the original GF bracelet with UB 22mm endlinks.
A few details to note:
1. The watch case retains its sharp lugs and bevels
2. Bezel: got a bit of wear, in certain lighting condition it gives a shade of pleasant blue tone (I don't know why, it seems to be just a normal steel bezel)
3. Original pusher and crown
4. Hands, are blued steel (I suppose) but the main chronograph hand is polished and rounded to an extent that it looks like glass, very lovely.
5. The dial has a sunburst texture that attract light tremendously, very shining even though the crystal is very scratched (hence the high contrast photographs)
6. Bracelet is very long, but apparently missing a few links, the owner could not find it. Very comfortable to wear though I have a small wrist.
7. I couldn't open the back now myself, due to dirt, but I suspect this runs on the legendary V72 movement. It runs strong for 2 days after fully wound, but chornograph hand is not resetting to 12 o'clock (but near
) atm.
I don't have a lot of info on this piece, any input or an old advertisement/catalogue scan would be very appreciated. I would also love to know if anyone has an idea of how many pieces manufactured, and the market value for this now?
Here are some photos I took with my phone:[/QU
What a great pickup! Nice condition to boot!
