I just saw that crack. The hesalite did what it was designed to do. Tile floors are notorious--I remember thinking of picking-up a DSOTM. The sales rep told me that the only cracks he had seen over the years were owners who dropped their watches onto tile floors. Somehow, he said, it was always in the bathroom.

If it was Sapphire, you would not of been so lucky.

Never put on, or take off, any watch where it can drop more than few feet, and then only over a somewhat soft surface. Tile and wood floors + 3 or 4 feet of drop will damage most watches. Take care with the toys.

The other year, my son dropped my Speedmaster from waist height onto a tile floor. The hands came loose but other than that the watch seemed OK. A few months later I had some issues and had is serviced. I'm guessing the drop had something to do with it.
