If you were unethical, you could replace the bezel with a new OEM one, then send it to Omega under warranty, claiming ignorance as to why the movement stopped working properly.

However, that would be dishonest, so don’t do that. 😉
Omega has seen it all. If the OP would replace the bezel and then send it in and claim ignorance they would know it had a severe blow to cause the damage. Whether they would fix it under warranty is unknown. People never want to own up to damage they themselves caused and would rather game the system for a free repair under the excuse that 'it's an expensive watch and it should be able to take the punishment'.

This is an over-generalization. A G-shock or Richard Mille will be fine.

20% covers both above watches 😗

Always surprises me how some people reach adult age safely.::facepalm1::
Yeah because accidentally dropping a watch is something adults never do!!

Hey guys, I recently dropped my speedmaster which is only 2 years old 🙁, and it landed on it's bezel at 6..

It's still able to keep time but when I use the chronograph and the minute hand is between 20-35 minutes, the chrono hand will get stuck behind the minute hand and the watch will stop running (including the seconds hand)

Will this be a simple repair that won't require a service, hopefully I can get it repaired under warranty?

Thanks
This will not be covered under warranty(99% sure). It will most likely show ‘shock/impact damage’ on the interior of there is exterior damage. Swatch group does have a 2 year service warranty though. It will most likely take at least 2 months for repair; parts delivery has been terrible.

I would be surprised if you could claim under warranty. There is not much they will not have seen before and will have a fair idea of what causes what damage. One possible avenue could be claiming on your house insurance IF you have the relevant cover in place. Take it to an Omega dealer, be honest and see what if anything they can do. Maybe its your lucky day and they will sort under good will. If not and
it's expensive, look into that claim.
Bingo. The watchmaker will have seen this and similar symptoms before: dinged bezel, clashing hands, bent balance staff, etc. I’d agree: be straight up with Omega, let them fix it properly, then talk to your homeowner’s insurer. Besides: if Omega detects you’re trying to take advantage, you’ll no longer be able to expect any ‘good will’ from them.

I sent my 45 yo Seiko Pogue to Seiko in New Jersey for a service, they had it for more than 6 months due to covid crap. When it came back the 30 min timer hand would collide with the hour hand with the chrono running between the hours of 6 and 7. Rather than risk another 6 month wait I just took it to a local watchmaker and he fixed it in three days for $40

I just spoke with an OB manager and was informed that Omega will now honor accidental damages under the updated Omega warranty effective 3 weeks ago. The manager said yes, even accidental drops will be covered under warranty now.

Interestingly, an update to the customer care policy was released today. There is a section under accidental damage, and yes some minor things will be covered, but this is far from Omega covering everything.

"Our watches are perfectly suited to resist heavy shocks. All Omega watches are tested according to the official NIHS norms (Swiss watchmaking industry norms) and the internal norms of the Swatch Group.

If a watch comes in with a shock during its warranty (sales and service) or extended warranty period, the service will be performed under warranty unless sign of abuse or an intervention by a non-authorized third party can be doubtlessly proven and consequently void the warranty."

The key is of course what is the difference between accidental damage and abuse. I suspect this will depend a great deal on the severity of the damage.

I'm afraid, "This round is on you." Send it in for repairs and it will come back good as new. I do believe in karma and honesty so I would fess up. You don't want any bad juju.
I 2nd this -- "this round is on you" unfortunately.....

for the future buy a strap with a deployant buckle -- looks like you need training wheels still.......

Well it happened to me yesterday. I dropped my 60th anniversary speedmaster onto a tile floor. It’s running fine but I cracked the crystal.

@Archer - do you know the part number for a crystal for the 60th case? Can I trouble you for that information please?

It’s definitely gonna bother me to look at that all time.

Thanks

Ouch, yes that definitely needs an intervention to replace the crystal. I make it a hard and fast rule that anytime I put on/take off a watch it is always over a surface where it wouldn't fall more than a foot or two, and never over a hard surface. Stuff can happen even if it has a deployant buckle. So far I haven't damaged a watch yet.

you'd hope a Richard mille would be fine for that price.. the contrast in price but similar durability makes for an interesting group
