·I had my 1996 Speedmaster Date (caliber 1152) serviced in 2010 at a cost of $750. I posted another thread here recently about trying to pick a watch service that was a bit easier on the budget. I contacted a local watchmaker who is associated with an Omega dealer, and seems to be SWATCH certified and claims to have extensive experience in the 7750 movement (which my 1152 bears a strong relation to). He indicated that they charge the same as Omega Service center, which I thought meant back to the same $750 as before, compared with $450 starting service from Archer's and a few others.
But now I look at Omega's website and they show $490 (on strap), indicating that's good for anything 1985 and newer, without any indication that Chronographs or additional complications add cost to the service.

I've asked him if that's correct, but if so that seems like a big move, and one that's going to reduce the "competitive advantage" for the locals.
Has anyone noticed a real reduction in service price, or am I reading something wrong?
