DON Bezel question

Hi experts! Somehow came across an article talking about vintage speedys and it made me remember that I'd forgotten (lol) the details on mine... so I'm just refreshing. When I bought it, was looking for one as old as me, so got this one which is, from what I understand, also born in 1970. Believe it's a 145.069.22

Somehow I ended up in a rabbit hole about bezels, and that's where I hit a puzzle. From the articles I've found, it seems that the early versions had a "dot lower right 70, tall tachymetre text with a accent over first E, and a dot over 90", then they were changed to "dot beside the 70, short tachymetre text with no accent, dot beside 90"

So, when I look at mine... it has dot lower right 70, tall tachymetre text, and dot over 90...however... there is NO ACCENT over the E... (unless the accent somehow wore off, while the rest of the text didn't?)

Not really sure if that's odd, or not. Figured I'd check in with the pros.... Thoughts? (pic attached)

I’m sure you have seen this
https://speedmaster101.com/base500-bezel-identification/

I think your accent may have been covered by damage and repair using paint?

can’t see as the focus resolution isn’t good enough but I have seen that before.

Yeah that's one of the articles I was reading, that made me curious. I'll try to get a better photo at some point, old iPhones only go so far I suppose. And to be clear, you're suggesting it may have had an accent at one point but the accent was maybe painted over with black? Thanks for the insight!

Well I can see damage where the accent should be….I am guessing.

More in focus photo here (Although it kinda makes me miss the blurry one where I couldn't quite see how hammered this thing is). Still a bit tough to tell if there was ever an accent over that E or not.

It's hard to tell, but everything points towards it being a legit DON with an obscured accent. That part of the bezel is clearly damaged, so it's totally plausible. At least the DON is still visible. 😁
