On some 14902 and 14900 dials, Omega tried a different kind of clear coat that was so shiny but deteriorated so fast and may be that was the reason they stopped using it after a short try.
I have no documents or anything to support my guess but only a few dials that I have bought in the last few years.

a SS dog leg lug connie with clean and spotless dial, onyx inserts (not black painted) sharp case, 10 sided crown with correct bracelet it is priced @ $1800 to $2300. Cross hair with extra cost.
Black dials are more, of course.

Both are more expensive than a few years ago; there's still a significant price gap between them.
