This one may have received more wear, year in and year out, than any other watch in the menagerie. For weekend chores around the house and trips afield hiking, hunting or fishing, it's been the go-to watch for so long I no longer have a clear memory of when it was acquired. Pretty sure it was a pawn shop find 30+ years ago.

Yup... totally agree. Didn't cost much and it's on my wrist a lot. Least expensive watch in my collection and I will never sell it. I love looking at it.

Love that Universal and the patina on the dial

interesting... what is this??

It's a Kienzle, which was made in Germany. They used to make clocks too.

This is one of the most inexpensive watches I own, the orange Orient Ray, the seller listed it by the reference number instead of the name, so I paid about $55 dollars, it was one year old, no scratches on the case or crystal.

And this is the watch I wear the most since it is my daily beater.

I enjoy that sweeping hand!

Right place + right time = my least expensive by a long way plus as an added bonus I love it 👍

How much was it?

Picked this up in a batch at auction, and I reckon it's maybe worth £25. For a 21J automatic mechanical watch from 1979... what a steal 😀

This Lanco still had the hang tags plus I also received a 16mm double clasp GF Kreisler band I use with a Gruen Curvex. Less than a good lunch and always brings a smile.

Yes, a tri-color graphic on back, blue, red, gold.

Got this not too long ago. The elongated lugs, the top hat, the fatty crown...

A humble Seiko but I love this thing. Reliable and utilitarian, it is hard to beat.

Tudor for $5? Yeah right...
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa. The Tudor was bought from an old watchmaker that had a tool box full of watches that weight about 50 pounds, any watch would be sold to me for parts at $5.00 each. Needless to say I did purchase a few. Also, at flea market I purchased a box of old watch parts for repair at $5.00. All kinds of junk was in it, including this 14K gold watch .

AND back in the late 1990,s my wife and I were in an antique store and she found what she thought was a fake Rolex. It turned out to be a 6542. Bought it for $550.00. But flipped it tooooooo soon. 😡😡😡🤬

These are all five dollar watches purchased at yard sales or from retired watchmakers.
This year???? The thread is about purchases this year.... not good deals 10 years ago-- that's too easy!

I am so sorry. I thought this thread was "Doesn't have to cost a lot to give me pleasure." Also if it cost $5.00 and that not a lot 50 years ago.😀

You're right, I got mixed up with another thread about purchases under $500 (this year!). My bad. I certainly would love to have found those watches for the price you say!
