Hard to tell with the dial but probably legit, but it is in *very* rough shape. Not super desirable in this condition IMO and it is gonna need to be serviced for sure. Looks like the movement is missing a screw. It is from the early 50's and looks like it's been thrown against a wall daily since.
I think that it is worth more than $50 in parts alone. These bumpers can turn into money pits however, but if your lucky can be fixed relatively simply; for $50 I would take the gamble.
Rough, in my opinion. Not only missing the case screw, but also missing the “dog-leg” case clamp that is held in place by the missing screw. By the time you spend what you’d have to spend to make a watch out of this, you’ll still have a gold-filled case which shows “brassing “ about which little can be done. Sometimes, paying quite a bit more for a better example in better condition, and which requires much less repair, can be the cheaper way to go. And you end up with a watch that is closer to original.
Sorry I wouldn't even pay $50 for that one. The case is a write off, not only brassing but the case back looks like it has corroded just about right the way through.
The seller says the back doesn't stay on! Hardly surprising when you look at your second picture, that case back never fit, it is way too small and it clearly didn't start out with the rest of the case.
Couple all this with the poor state of the dial and movement and the wrong crown and it is a no, no no!
