Does anyone have any in person photos of the new Paris 2024 Seamaster or the ability to get them?

I’m looking far and wide for any wristshots, images, display-case photos of this new watch, I believe it may be Paris boutique exclusive but not sure yet.

Is there anyone who has seen one and photographed it in the metal yet? I’ve got all of the press images but just hoping someone owns the rights to some images they’ve taken themselves and might be willing to let us use them.

Thanks

Robert-Jaan has posted some pretty nice looking images of it on a tan NATO on his IG of late.

Just checked that out and it looks great on that NATO but I don't want to be mooching off RJ when he has his own site to use images on is all

I was told that it was Paris exclusive at an AD this afternoon.

Correct, only available at Paris OBs, and keeping in line with Omega's new policy it's an unlimited 'limited production' item.

I see on the web it was supposed to be available in Paris boutiques in July 2023.

But it’s really annoying, once again they make a watch for men - and as usual, nothing for women. Zilch, zippo, niente, nada.

I would suspect that Omega would argue that it's unisex?

I've noticed a lot of women wearing 40mm plus dive watches in the City of London over the summer - more submariners on women than men!

To claim unisex for 38mm may be one thing, but this one is 42mm. So this would be a bit ridiculous.

PS oh and of course someone already flipping on Chrono24.

That’s a bit of an odd thing in its own right, not only has the mid-size Seamaster been discontinued since the move from Cal 2500 to Cal 8800, but the only ladies’ dive watch left in the entire Omega lineup is an old Planet Ocean powered by Cal 8520.

8520 is the ladies’ version of the previous Cal 8500, there is a similar sized Cal 8802 but they haven’t used it in a diver at all.

So of that old Planet Ocean generation for ladies, the only models left are 3 gold ones and this in titanium, nothing else.

Its really odd since Omega had a massive range of ladies and mid-size divers going back decades.

There are some other odd things by that way. The De Ville chronograph is dead, as is the Constellation chronograph, the Aqua Terra chronograph, and the mid-size Planet Ocean chronograph.

All that’s left is the 44mm Seamaster Pro chrono, 45.5mm Planet Ocean chrono, and the Speedmaster, which is really weird for a brand that had a super-broad chronograph range up until recently but Cal 9300/9900 has forced them into a lot of changes due to size and thickness compared to the old Cal 3313 family.

I wonder if they’re ever going to get movements back down in terms of thickness in particular to be competitive with other brands again or if Co-Axial has them locked into these new size constraints.

Agreed it’s very odd, they could do a 37mm modern version of the colorful seamaster 120 which had beautiful green, red, and blue iterations- and I bet there would be many men interested.
Or even a modern revival of the colorful admiralty models with rotating bezels.
Omega tried to compete with Rolexes colorful Date justs with colorful Aquaterras, but Omega has very nice colorful sports watches in its own history which it could use instead of apeing another company’s products.

Yea aside from ladies, Omega is a brand traditionally very strong in Asia where mid-size is very much unisex, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, are all very much markets where it would be very popular to have a strong 37 mm diver lineup, I really do think its just a matter of how big the 8802 still is and not wanting to go back to using the much thinner and more practical Cal 2500D, which is sad because the 2500D is famously reliable accurate and good.

I have to suppose there’s a reason, eg they managed to push into the luxury market for men through a technical advance, ie the co-axial caliber.
But most women don’t really care about what’s inside the watch and they also often stick to just one watch, with several luxury brands already well implanted
into the market, not just Rolex or Jaeger Le Coultre but also including top jewelers like Cartier, Poiray, Boucheron and Bulgari, and other luxury world players with a strong female following like Hermes.
But all of the above offer good looking non-glitz watches for women- Omega, well almost none.

I think it's more than just the movement size. The 8800 based movements are only 0.5mm deeper than the 2500D ( I believe the 8800 is 4.1mm thick vs the 2500 3.6mm) and the same diameter, hardly a deal breaker. If they wanted to produce ~36mm watches that weren't boat anchors they could. Granted the 8500/8900 and 9300 are no go on smaller pieces. I am amazed that the hour vision isn't thicker bearing in mind it is all movement, but it does make for a more impressive display back, the 2500s and 8800 have to have a big metal ring around them to hide the diminutive size. The main issue with the 2500D is likely a marketing one. It can't really be claimed to be fully in house as it is still ultimately derived from the ETA 2892. Which as we all know is no bad thing.

If they really think a 42mm watch is unisex, I’d say see below what you think 🤨

I don't know, I think you could pull it off if it was on a rubber strap. I wasn't a fan of the gold and white seeing the watch alone, but it looks pretty, pretty, pretty good on your wrist.

@pdxleaf thank you for what I’ll take as a compliment but there’s also the thickness- this feels so heavy on my wrist it really would not be pleasant to wear. Unfortunately they asked me to hurry so I wasn’t really was able to assess if it would work for me. I would not consider it good looking on me anyhow.

That gold is much better than the sedna gold. Thanks for your time.

One of the pros for Rolex vs. Omega for a long time now has been their thinner and slightly smaller watches. Why hasn’t Omega made the proper adjustments?
And I may be in the minority here but promote the De Ville line. Instead of cutting costs there make it your cutting edge line like it was with the introduction of cal. 8500.
