Does anyone collect art? What is hanging on your wall?

Bronze anyone.
Solid piece I looked at for a long time and picked it up a few times over a few years and balked at the price every time. Place was closing down and they had $700 off and Mrs Standy said I would be a idiot not to buy it. ( can’t be seen as a idiot )

The last of my motley collection …. and on reflection / too much reflection - hard to photograph pictures....

The reflection coming off the glass of a framed print or painting is an interesting thing.
The human brain seems to be able to "filter out" the distraction of the reflective glare and see the details of the art below the glass, yet the camera seems to do the opposite - it highlights the reflective glare.

I have a collection from the the "Big 5" group of artists from the Soweto School of Art.
The Soweto School of Art is the first internationally recognised school of art to emerge from the African continent. The body of their artworks spanning the specific period 1960 through 2010.
Some of their work:

It’s an interesting thread. Some people just like plain walls, some put family photos or art photos and some, like me, do buy ‘affordable' art and clutter the walls.

I know that there’s an expression that ‘the eyes are the window to the soul', but I sometimes think that paintings (and art generally) give an insight into the nature of the collector. I hope that no psychoanalysts read this thread and analyse me based on my taste in paintings

We regularly go into galleries when we’re away on holiday.

I particularly like a modern Northumberland artist called Ken Spencer. These are some of his paintings that my wife and I have bought over the years.

One of my daughters likes a Cornish artist, based in St. Ives, Joe Armstrong.

St. Ives is lovely, and a long-time favourite of British artists (e.g. Barbara Hepworth). The branch of the Tate they have there is excellent.

I had a lot of fun at St Ives a long time back in the day - I think that was as a different sort of artist... but I did manage better than 2.5 hours from the bucket of blood pub (maybe not on the way back). It is good to see the Tate spread its wings 100% - A lot of history in the area and well worth a visit.

We like artwork that makes us smile, or HAVE to have it!.
We have various themes around the home but a couple in the lounge we like, one of Monaco and the other by a local artist of Bordeaux- we love the city and also the painting

It's not quite "art collecting" but it's the centerpiece of what will hopefully become a gallery wall! I've got my eye on some complementary art prints that I'm trying to figure out sizing for =)

Does it have a title?

I’m definitely not an art collector but it was bright, fun, and matches my pooch in a whimsical way.

I have a small nicely done carving of a Rhinoceros in a chocolate colored hard wood. I got it along with a hand carved letter opener of the same exotic wood. The letter opener may really be a skewer for dining, a long thin very sharp tip. The pommel is carved in the shape of what may be an African god. Very Egyptian looking but parts of ancient Africa had an Egyptian like culture.
