For completeness (from email notification):

Thank you.

You are just like I had it in mind...

Have a nice weekend!

I would only agree with the OP's stance in as much as we don't want counterfeiters knowing the flaws of their work.

With certain references, especially something like a 2915, it's important to go to the more knowledgeable members and exchange this rarified information via PM.

My impression is that they are usually happy to share if they don't smell something fishy.

Regarding the 2915 bezel there have been so many fakes, that it's very easy to check that they're fake with one or two glances, when you know how to spot on.

My thread was not asking for pictures of fake bezels, but I was hoping to get some 'original' input.

I may have misunderstood, but I don't think OP was here soliciting discussion by PM. He is asking for information (traits? Pics? ) about original 2915 bezels.

Sure, don't give away good info to fakers, but c'mon, at least post a pic of a watch! 馃槣

I fully understand. Thank you for your advice.

I will have my focus placed in another way, away from this platform.

Thank you!

So now you have what you wanted.

I had a simple question and I'm no step further.

Thank you all for being such a great family.

Thank you! That's a hullva watch, even without the bezel. But ibcan certainly see why you want to make it complete.

A watch without a bezel is like a man without a family.

Many families would welcome you in wearing that with or without a bezel! Very nice.

I'm not totally understanding something here. The ability to so easily differentiate a fake from the real thing would seem to indicate that the person is intimately familiar with the real thing. Otherwise, how does one "know" that a fake is a fake? There has to be a standard, some kind of type specimen, to which a comparison is made. Someone please tell me my logic is incorrect so I can go back to picking my nose in the corner.

Give it some time. This is an international forum and many members, especially those with the knowledge you seek are probably sleeping or at the bar/pub.

In the mean time, I'm still not totally clear on what you want to know.

We know the originals are steel, lightly etched with numbers and marks and the tachy base 1000 text. We know there is some legitimate variation (William postulates perhaps they were engraved be hand). We know they were slimmer than the modern ones, with smaller text (as we discussed about my look a like).

We also know there's lots of fakes .

Is there something you want to zero in on?

I think that you having accepted what I was going for is more than I could have expected..

Just like to see a NOS example.

I know there are collectors holding them.

I certainly don't speak for everyone, nor for OF itself, but it's a pretty tight knit group and there are lots of sharks circling these waters... so we can be wary of certain behaviours.

But you're right, there probably are a few here . The question is whether or not they will share. As rman said, some may do so privately.

There seems to be some work in progress on that topic @nerdbedusa 馃榾

A bit of patience and you might get what you鈥檙e looking for.

In the meantime, have you checked usual ref books like MoonwatchOnly or the Ultimate Speedmaster Exhibition for example? 馃槈

I still don't understand the reasoning or justification of "I want some help but why should I help others, they should research for themselves"?!

I think you can find the intentions between the lines..not in my posts though, I was very frank.
