Just found this on FB marketplace... I'm debating if a half hour drive is in order or not...

Looks very nice, 31mm model?

Yep, it's for sale under "womans" watch but still "hefty" pricetag that is obviously due to the more or less recognizable brand name...

Around 400$ is the asking price... Dunno, I'll call tomorrow and see if he wants to budge. At 31mm i think it's more of a box queen than a wearable size for me.

Yes 400 seems a bit steep for that example, I would have sold mine for 400 any day and it looks to be in better shape.

Yes 31mm is not for all even though these still are pretty ”cheap” compared to nice 31mm models from Longines/Omega etc

True, I have been looking at the Omega equivalent of this watch and with some luck could get it for less than this.
And yet again not for wear but to compete a piece of the larger picture.
Thanks for your input, it was just what I needed.

No problem, if you can get a better price it will not be a bad purchase.
I don’t understand what you mean with not for wear though?

These early Tissot holds very high quality and is absolutely compareable to Omega, Longines, Eterna, Doxa, Alpina and so on.
And to find a nice 31mm model with black gilt dial for this money will be hard for any of these brands!

Not for wearing being I don't wear some of the pieces I own, not safe queens but watches that make sense in the collection but are just too fragile/small/rare to wear, with me being clumsy as is and the radium(?) being so caked on the hour numbers I see a pretty bad scenario in short future.

I see that these watches and the 26.5 Omegas have exploded in value since the last time I gave them a look or two...

Blimey, what fantastic dial colour and hand combo. Is there a model ref please?

Thank you @inchpincher, maybe others can help- I don’t have any idea unfortunately— I just like the way it looks.

Arrived this morning

The dial looks dark...

...but as the light changes...

...it completely transforms

And dark again

I just got this one, out of eBay, basically a “tissot project”, need to fix the movement and buy a 1940 military case. But what is interesting is the dial, it’s the first time that I see a red 5 stars in a tissot vintage (I know that is “common” for vintage omega, from Brazil) any idea if it’s a rare dial? Does someone know anything about it?

It is an example of the "Five-Star" brand for Tissot, sold primarily into Canada during the second world war. They pop up for sale from time to time on eBay, so not especially rare. You can sometimes find these with issued USA ORD markings. In the early 1950s, the Five Star brand evolved into the Seastar brand, still used by Tissot today.

Thank you, very interesting. I have been trying to search around, eBay, Google etc.. and I can’t find anything about the “five star brand” any recommendation where can read about it? Or even find some examples of these watches. Thank you
