18k + SS = Two Tone.... right?

What would you guys add or change with this small watch selection. I am looking for a new addition and would like to see what direction everyone would take it. 🍿

Thinking back to when my collection was smaller and I was looking for a sense of direction, I dumped my Rolex to finance another Omega. I think it’s worked out rather well, looking at the 1950s wrist watches i seem to prefer I think that the Rolex of that era just isn’t of the same quality as the Omega.

What other kind of answer would you expect, this is the Omega forum after all.

Where’s the Speedmaster Professional in that photo?

Take your pick:

Add Speedmaster Pro (not just any chronograph)
Add G-Shock (not just any tough watch)
Add Diver - doesn't matter - Omega, Rolex, Seiko, etc
Add GMT - same as above - " "

A diver would do well. As you are used to 36mm I would recommend something 40mm, perhaps a 5 digit Submariner.

As I was looking at your collection I thought that you really need a chronograph. But @larryganz comprehensively nailed all the best options that would expand your variety.

I have always been a big fan of a Speedy Sapphire Sandwich. I know it gets the criticism about not using hesalite but the gorgeous sapphire caseback makes it for me.

I'm dying for a sub 114060 but premium is a no go for me.

Yes, as has been mentioned, in your place I would be dying for a chronograph and a sport watch (e.g. diver). But apparently you haven't missed them up to now, so maybe you should stick with your dressy watch theme and branch out to other brands, e.g. a Longines Conquest or a JLC Memovox.

I have honestly been tracking down a Cartier Tank Louis 18k ::facepalm1::

i'll keep the 2 vintage omega, and throw away the 2 tone though i have a similar one in black dial.

Can't really give an advice what to do but personally I like to keep collection as versatile as possible. Watch for every occasion.

I think maybe a Marathon SAR or something military. Or a Grand Seiko spring drive.

Possibly a really nice Accutron. Or a “trench” watch.

I would not add another Omega to that.

I bought a couple of Speedmaster Pro 3572.50 “heasalite sandwich” which gives you the sapphire caseback with warmer Hesalite crystal. They can still be found for under $3500 as of a year ago last I checked.

One is my son’s birth year watch which I will give him for college graduation next May, and the other one is a bit newer from the mid-2000’s and is my Mitsukoshi conversion donor.

Two tone Rolex’s only remind me of Memeber’s Only Jackets, gold chains with chest hair showing and ugly Corvettes.
If you’re not a fan of chunkster sport watches like the subs, the Seamaster 120 is very sleek and sporty and would round out your Omega menagerie. Then spend the rest from dumping that DJ towards a Speedy.

You’re thinking of solid gold day date Rolex President, not a slim vintage TT Datejust which is a classic.

Like other said, I'd drop that Rolex without regret and use the proceeds for something else, like another (or more) Omega vintage, for example:
- an SM120
- a chrono (321 or 861 De Ville or Seamaster)
- a Speedy tritium
- a Seamaster chronometer
- an oversize bumper
- a Ranchero

The Rolex is worth a few thousands, with this amount the world is your oyster 😁 (meaning you do have some choices).

I agree a diver is possibly needed, depending on your lifestyle. I’m a vintage guy through and through but it’s nice to have a few modern divers/“beaters” to wear in the pool, at the beach, etc.

This thread reminds me that I have lived decades past the best years of my life completely unaware that there are people for whom "what watch shall I wear in the pool" is a question they ask themselves. No criticism intended, I just never knew this was a thing.

I try to avoid other people’s urine as much as possible- and I sure don’t want my watch soaking in it.
