Dishonest WRUW Watch "Liking"

I find watching posts that get "liked" or do not receive a "like" a fascinating thing to watch not just in the WRUW thread but other posts as well.

Over the years it has been interesting to figure out who likes who and who doesn't like who and who doesn't like me simply by observing "likes" on a post. I don't post much anymore in the WRUW thread but when I have it is interesting to watch how all the posts on one page can get a "like" from long standing members and my post does not receive a "like." I don't think that is simply because my picture is bad, I believe it is a personal slight against me. It appears to be a conscious effort not to hit the "like" button scrolling down the page liking every post down the line and then skipping TLIGuy's post. Over time you notice the same members always skipping your post while liking all the others. That only leads me to the impression that the person does not care for me as forum member or my content.

For good or bad, I think the he observation of "likes" has been an interesting way to reveal what members think of each others content.

You're gonna make me conscious of likes, or lack of from my future posts now馃槻

Don鈥檛 really care for who doesn鈥檛 like me, one of those jobs where a lot of people don鈥檛 like me at the end of the day 馃槜

We like what we like. And we don't like what we don't like. Thats it. Life is complicated (and over analyzed) enough 馃榾 And if this post gets no likes...well...fff'kit.

But, i am happy if my slight twist on the human condition is 'got' and 'liked' (and the 'got' part already an accomplishement in a 1D-textual-represention of a 4D-human-self).

@noelekal, it is quite a coincidence that you have started this thread, as I have recently been thinking about starting one very similar. I wanted to know how people made the choice to like or not to like someone's watch. I was going to run down my reasons and ask for others. Obviously, I will like a watch if I flat out like it. I will like it if it is something I would wear had I found it cheap enough in a thrift or on a lawn sale. I will like it if they are wearing a beater, for the bravery and character in that action. Some days I will like a watch if I like the dial, but it is too large for me to wear and other days, I just think..."Oh, that is too big for me to wear, I don't like it." I tend not to like brand new watches, thinking anyone with the funds could have bought that. But, a vintage watch of the "same" model will almost always get a like from me. I guess I am old school, but I won't like a Russian watch, maybe that is just a quirk...nor will I like a Chinese seagull. I know what you are thinking.......I shouldn't like, nor wear Seiko's then, but some times do. I am just quirky. LOL I can honestly say, I never look at the name next to the watch in answer to @TLIGuy, but then I am not one of the inner, clique here either. On my watches getting likes....I do notice when Norman or @Archer like a post or a watch of mine, cuz I think that means something, they are so knowledgeable. I have also noticed, or think I have, that some people like every watch posted. So, this thread is answering some of my questions, why do you like or not like the watches posted on WRUW. I hope this thread lives for a while and I get to see if I am "normal" in why I like a watch pic or so very different from others.

I wish we had more choices to express our approval; i.e. a "LIKEx2" or a "HATE" or "YUCK".

Did you know you can remove "likes" and it comes off the members count?

I like (haha, did you see what I did there?) to wait until a member hits a significant milestone - say 1K multiple, then go back and remove all my "likes" from his/her posts.
No, it's not being mean - actually gives that member an extra thrill to hit the milestone two or three times. ::psy::

Of course the "unlike" functionality can be used for nefarious purposes as well, not that I'd ever do that! 馃槖

And anyway @Alpha has way to many "likes" to remove him from the top spot... unless we all gang up on him. 馃槜

@dougiedude is probably within my personal reach, no doubt I've "liked" at least 2/3 of his posts, but I'm too lazy to do it. 馃槨

@Mad Dog - well... don't mess with his "likes" - I've met him... he's frickin' crazy. 馃槤

I鈥檇 like to point out you are inadvertently the gamma rays to my Dr Banner. I was just a Omega newbie with a 3313 PO and an interesting Speedy Date, that had just joined the forums with sub 200 posts when I bought my (in hindsight) not quite birthyear speedy from you.

I pride myself on being the bad influence that got a couple people onto the forums 馃榿

Personally, I steer clear of the WRUW thread, too many nice shiney things, I'd end up bankrupt 馃う

Great thread. I鈥檝e now managed to weed out the last of the suspected TLIGuy haters.
