I mean, if it’s gonna be turd, might as well be unpolished. 😀

I think the WWW is out of the running, thanks to you guys steering me right, and I really appreciate the candor re: the eBay watch. I might see what Corr can do re price on one of the 600s I posted, since it sounds like they’re fairly legit (if overpriced). Will also keep an eye on the listings here, though I don’t have marketplace permissions yet.

Really appreciate the help, guys. And if you see something I ought to check out, please don’t keep it secret.

If it's in your budget, paying a few hundred extra to get a nice watch, when you want it, isn't the worst thing in the world. Especially when you haven't yet developed the expertise to screen hundreds of eBay watches and hunt down the needle in the haystack. In the long run, you will be happy with the watch, and that's all you'll remember.

Yeah, that’s sort of where I’m at right now. Given my novice-hood, willing to pay extra (call it the stupid tax) as long as I can feel confident I’m not buying a fugazi.

No, the stupid tax (or what we normally call the noob-tax) is when you spend good money on a piece of crap (often thinking you're getting a bargain). We don't criticize a newbie for paying a little extra for a good watch. You can take the price tag off before you wear the watch. 😉

Even experienced collectors will pay extra to get something they really want; sometimes they even bid against each other in auctions.

Just need to decide how much I care about the technical dial. It’s a damn good look.

That dial does not look good to me. It looks like a waffle dial was repainted with glossy paint without removing the markers.

See what you mean now that I’m on my pc. From the phone I thought maybe the pic was just oversharpened.

Will keep on looking.

Create an account on the-saleroom.com and set alerts for what you're interested in. There is an auctioneer who has a couple of DD's every month. By 'watching' those lots, and what they sell for, you'll learn a lot. Be patient.
