Didn't Expect to See this Today (Think Orange Ceramic)

I mean yes, the Daytona is what it is; but the orange platinum PO to me is just ugly. I the the gray tint of the dial against the orange, too dull. Don't quite get the point of platinum stitching an orange leather band that belongs on a swatch. The bezel is ok, if you like the orange bezels, but it would be better iMO against a ceramic black dial or, if you want white.

Want to go Gotti on style this is what I would do to that watch. The main marker on the bezel a pearl, the orange numerals applied platinum (like the PO but platinum) Dial black or white ceramic, then take the 5 minute markers and make those orange if you must. and use a bracelet rather than a strap. It will still pop up on my nightmares though...specially on halloween.

Ok...A few things...

I've had this on my wrist, and I've had the Platona on my wrist...
They both look soooo much better in 'person'

THIS PO IS MUCH HEAVIER....A bracelet would have been too much weight

I think that the Platona is a better value...and overall probably more aesthetically pleasing...

But the PO is not meant for mass production....rolled into the price is the effort and fact that the Orange ceramic basically had to be cooked one at a time...
(how many SS PO's could they have rolled off the assembly in that time?)

Again, Sergio, they didn't make this for you....

They made it to show the world what they can do...

The hardcore Omega-Philes with that calibre of Blow Money have already snatched this up....

I personally know of 4 that have been sold... leaving possibly four left - but more than likely already gone to the Asian Market....

So Whether or not anyone thinks it's Ugly ( I personally do not) you have to admit that it was a success!!!

I know it wasn't made for me...but I can still have an opinion. Lots of things are a success. Justin Bieber is one of the top grossing artists of the last years, trump is a success no matter how many of his casinos bankrupt. Purple hair is a success. That doesn't mean I have to like them. Selljngn8 watches is a very relative success. 8000000...now that's a success.

Look at the PO LMLE. I like that one a lot. Platinum of course holds value, but you can hand me a nice ounce of platinum anytime before making this dial. Value is not equal to good taste....or if I'm more modest value does not necessary equal my taste.

I would venture you can find 10 people somewhere that will bug just about anything.

Hopefully I can find at least one person that will buy a spellcheck! 😉

Seriously though, I'm not trying to rob you of your opinion.... I'm just saying that it isn't relevant... They didn't set out to mass produce and sell watches...

its like a Movado Tourbillon priced in the 6 figure range... you can argue all you want about paying that kind of money for a 'Movado'... but the strategy isn't to sell the watch...its to show what the brand is capable of.... How many people actually buy the Audi R8? the R8 exists to sell more A4's ...

Once the Orange Ceramic is ready for mass production, you can bet that the PO orange SS will be one of the hottest Models ever produced!!!

this is the idea.... Build anticipation...

suppose they put the 8 ceramic orange bezels on a regular platinum PO black dial...pretty much exactly the way the SS would look...

You might see this as more aesthetically pleasing, and it would please the masses...but the problem: who would want the Platinum ones if there is nothing to separate it from the SS/WG (even rolex reserves smooth bezel, and glacier Blue dial for its platinum DD's only )..

And... Anticipation turns to resentment if the wait is too long.... and the truth is, not even OMEGA knows how long the wait will be...

So I respect your opinion, and would defend to the death your right to have it, but humbly suggest that I think that it is too gustatory, without full appreciation of what this watch represents...

ThE zErrAmik iZ NoT de IzzuE it iZ ThE Dial aND DeZiGn...

I like the bezel, that's the only thing I like. Anyway. I get your point. Great watch because it's great, no matter what it looks like.

Now, let me see if I can find that spell check somewhere. I'll buy some glasses too while I'm at it. Maybe I'll get a few pairs so I can give them away...

Just responding to the second half of the posting. I get that this is an achievement of sorts, I get that it's a display model. But I dislike the aesthetic balance of the watch. It makes no sense to me. Platinum stiching on leather, grey platinum bezel, and then why leave the orange numerals when you could at least do something different? Aesthetics are important to me, they simply matter

To me the design let's the technical achievement down.

Anyway, we can argue all night and neither of us will change our mind, so peace.

Ps- it's also getting late and I need at least 2 hours after looking at this watch before I can sleep.

@Superdoc says it best... this is a technology demonstrator, not unlike what happens in the tech industry all the time; call it a beta release. I think Omega benefits in multiple ways: they show the marketplace what is possible, they buy time to perfect process, they gather feedback on things like aesthetics without the risk of mass producing something people hate, and they provide their 1/10th of 1% top clients an opportunity to own something truly unique at the same time. I think this watch is absolutely stunning, but then again, I love orange (KTM owner here).

its to show what the brand is capable of
Not capable of creating a matching date wheel, apparently. It sticks out pretty badly.
