Dial color to match your skin tone

I envy people with darker skin than me, which is most. Many watches don't look so great against my pasty skin, which also has a little red tone as well. I love black dialed watches, but there is too much contrast. I have found grey and blue look great, as does silver. I have very few silver watches so I think my next purchase may be silver. I also love the color gold for a case, but only gold highlights because solid gold really does not look so great. Have others noticed a dial color that works best with their skin?

I was not able to photograph this in the current light to get it's true color, but you get the idea.

I have never thought this. Do you think there is too much contrast with the black strap? I don't see a problem with you wearing a black dialed watch.

I wouldn't give this a moment's thought, or let this type of thinking stop you from wearing watches you enjoy. Yes, there is a lot of vanity and body consciousness these days (especially among young people on social media), but you don't have to allow that to control your decisions.

This is why I tend to seek out "ruddy" dials. 😁

All dials colors fit all skin colors. That is the truth and also the politically correct answer.

I don’t think too much about dial color versus skin tone. My problem is different. Leather watch straps blend in too much with my old weather beaten skin.

And don’t even ask about my hands. Ever seen a photo of Keith Richard’s hands? I’m pretty close.

I find myself subconsciously gravitating towards grey/blacker dials on my skin tone also.

I mean deep black dial color. I have several that are vintage and faded and look fine. But blue, gray, green like my Hamilton Khaki, and silver definitely look best. I am actually color blind, but I can still tell when a color clashes. So yes, neutral and cool colors look best on me. There is some generally accepted theory about the type of jewelry worn related to your skin tone- people with paler skin and veins that appear bluish it is recommended to wear metals like silver and platinum. People with brown or olive skin and veins that appear greenish it is recommended to wear metal that is more golden in color. This is also probably why the silver dial looks best on me in my opinion. Too bad a lot of watch dials do not look best in silver- like the SMP 300, meh
