Hello all,

I’m listing today a watch I bought this summer from @seekingseaquest on here, but which I have realised is not really my style (I prefer 60s watches).

The watch is a 2849 ref Seamaster in steel with an attractive two tone dial with unusual markers. It was very recently serviced by the highly reputable WatchGuy in the UK, so is complete with a detailed photographic breakdown of the work and is also in warranty.

Dial: the original two tone dial with interesting gem/coffin markers is in near perfect condition. This is a lume-free dial. There are no blemishes visible to the naked eye and even under a loupe it is exceptional. In neutral outdoor light it has an attractive silver/white look whilst in more incandescent style lighting it presents in more gold tones. The colour is hard to capture on photos, hence there is a range of angles and one in different lighting.

Case: the case is likely unpolished but shows signs of its 60+ year life. The chamfers on the lugs are still present but the edges are softened slightly by age. The lugs however are still beefy and the case presents nicely. The medallion on the back is in very good condition and the waterproof text is still visible as well.

Crown: although not original to the watch, a correct clover crown was fitted by the previous owner.

Crystal: not original to the watch but the correct crystal is fitted with the logo in the middle. This I believe was also fitted by the PO as the crystal when he bought it was damaged.

Movement: 503 movement running wonderfully within, to my estimates, +/-10s a day at worst; in reality I would say it’s more like 7. Recently serviced by Watch Guy having arrived with a low amplitude, I was told that the movement was in general need of service and there was a small piece of dirt under a jewel which had to be manually removed which was causing issues. Now the watch runs wonderfully.

I am looking to get 1200 GBP net to me for this. This is what I paid for the watch, so I am losing the money on the service, but I think because it is in such fantastic condition and also with no lume this isn’t an unfair price. I am looking at buying a 165.010 ref SM in steel so if you have one and might be willing to trade then let me know.

I have the public link to the work from Watch Guy with a catalogue of photos and will send that in PM if you’d like it. In the meantime photos below.
