I'll be coming in from central Pennsylvania, but it may take me some time to get there . . .

You’ll blend right in if you visit where I live.

Well, I have to attend now to make sure that Mad Dog is taking proper care of my former 861 Speedy. 😉
You mean the birth year AND birth MONTH 861 he snagged about five minutes before I was going to give in and send you an offer?!?! 🤦

@Mad Dog....dibs by the way!

I think I'd be willing to make the drive. @JwRosenthal we can carpool...I have an extra seat, and I promise to bring Big Blue this time!

Hi. This is just an idea and I am thankful to have support from @gbesq and @JwRosenthal if I take this further. Some help from a Metro Detroit member would be welcome also.

Proposed date. Early Fall

Some locations to discuss.

1) Dearborn. It’s close to the airport and to the amazing Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.

2) Downtown Detroit. Close to the Detroit Institute of Arts, theatres, and sports stadiums. This area has improved significantly in the last few years.

3) Troy or Birmingham. Northern suburbs close to shopping malls.

4) Area proposed by a Detroit area OF member.

5) Windsor. Huge hotels directly across from downtown Detroit.

6) London Ontario. City of 500 000 halfway between Toronto and Detroit, in case there is more interest from Canadian members than from the US.

I know the Detroit area quite well and my choice would be Dearborn if there is strong interest from out of town.

Please share your thoughts and we can decide on the next steps.

GBesq and JW. Jump in as much as you want with comments and suggestions. Thanks.

So no Mexicantown option? 😉

Refried beans… yuk! We used to go there after work when I was on drug squad. I was usually the DD. One girl threw up in her purse when I stopped at the border on the way back. Refried beans… yuk!

One of my colleagues made the mistake of stopping there once...his digestive system took weeks to recover. 🤮

Greektown is more my style - at least as I remember it. Haven't been there for 20+ years...flaming cheese anyone?

I totally agree. But if a certain venue will encourage you (@Archer )to come, I believe the attendance will increase significantly. Location, date and other details will be discussed over PM.

That sounds like a threat.

I should know. I bought one for my daughter when she was 8 or so. She now owns and operates a stable/training/breeding operation and has about 30 of them. 😲

He would not bring his bow and arrows.
My father used to hate going to social gatherings with non-doctors because everyone had a mole, freckle or boil they wanted looked at while he was holding his cocktail by the pool.

That’s definitely worse than every tech worker ever being asked to “take a look at my computer”. Sure I’d love to get into a nice two hour troubleshooting session on your 15 year old POS desktop because you lost some files or something but can’t really remember what happened.

When I used to regularly go to GTG’s in Toronto, organized by one of the TZ mods who lived there, my evenings were pretty full...I can relate.

My family used to ask why I wouldn’t bring a camera to family events- I told them they couldn’t afford my day rate.
They don’t ask anymore.

Do not ask Al if he’ll take your watch with him and fix it / Do not ask Al for parts / Do not ask Al to adjust your watch / Do not feed the Al / Do not ask Al if he’ll open up your watch so you can show the reference number / Do not feed the Al / Do not ask Al how much your grandfather’s watch is worth / Do not ask Al if your watch is fake / Do not ask Al if he has spare parts for your Rolex / Do not ask Al if he can fix your Moonswatch / Do not feed the Al / Do not kidnap Al / Do not search Al’s room for free tools / Do not put Radium on your teeth to scare Al / Do not ask Al for autographs / Do not take selfies with Al without asking / I think that’s about it.

All those and you forgot the two most requested...

1. "How do I wind my watch?"

2. "Can I wash my hands with a Speedmaster?"
