some eBay doctors told me the same thing 馃榿

And one of them has apparently "treated" the watch in Omega's Museum. 馃檮

I've sent some emails out to try to track down one of the other unseen ones, whether or not I'll get a reply is another question entirely.

AFAIK the one that sold in early 2007 was the stepped dial date at 3:00 that Desmond wrote the article on (feel free to correct if I'm wrong). The second one sold in 2007 also on eBay and didn't have the stepping, it was a De Lux like Dennis' model, but I don't know if it was a date at 3:00 or a date at 6:00. If that fourth one is a date at 3:00, it'll mean that all four of the damn things are still semi-unique in that they have no known exact twin floating around outside of the AJTT picture.

It's an very uncommon piece though I doubt it will attain the huge price the seller probably wants for it. I hope the seller sees this auction through to the end so we may get a sense of the value of these pieces.

I get the impression the Seller didn't know exactly what she had until she found the pics of Dennis', frankly he's probably more emotionally invested in it going for big money than even she is, as that sense of value we'll see in 5 days is directly related to how soon he can call himself a Breguet owner

馃槣 I think you might be right. As much as I dig the watch, I really like my 2799 more.

I think the benchmark for these watches has been set by that 18k gold black dial cartouche cal. 352 seamaster - that is even more uncommon than this one and that one went at auction for a shade over $4k.
And at the end of the day, the market for deluxe connies is still bigger than that for deluxe seamasters - while the connies are easier to source, their value is kept up by the larger number of people interested in those watches.
The problem with the $4k price point is once you get to this amount, there are many other vintage omegas that become alternatives - for instance 105.003 cal. 321 speedmaster, 2913 seamaster 300, pink gold 2799 de luxe constellation and others that then make a watch like this a tough sell.

Not many eBayers will pay top dollars for the rare vintage timepieces. I have a feeling, such a rarely-seen watch will fetch a better price, if exposed to places like Sotheby's, Christie's and Antiquorum, etc.

Even though the hands may have been fitted by the Omega factory to the watch, actually they were meant for the common Seamaster Calendar @ 6 o'clock that comes with an 'outside' minute-track. Everything on the watch is so beautiful, save for the hands, sticking out like a sore thumb.

Thank you.

Thanks for the response.

I think, there are not many people who have seen such a rare watch. Most Omega followers will associate this spectacular dial with the Constellation. I am sure there will be some who may question the authenticity of the word 'Seamaster' on the solid gold dial of this fabulous watch.

Before the listing ends, definitely there will be a high-bidder and this person knows exactly what he is after, an item not found on every street corner. As a lover of vintage-watches, more important this watch will find a good home and it will be cherished and loved, throughout its life-time.

Thank-you.

Damn, that's nice. I'm thinking it might go higher than Mike's estimate by a few grand. Complete speculation on my part though.

Depends whether Hoi drives the bidding up so he can change the hands and re-list it on principle.

Wrong hands or not, it's a stunner. 馃槑 Ref. 2627 and cal. 353.

My prediction is someone will make Kathleen the proverbial "offer you can't refuse", and we'll never know the true selling price. 馃

We'll see,

IMO, everyone has a price. Yours just wasn't the one. I know of several collectors who might up the ante enough to get her attention. Some might actually be members of this forum...馃槈

But I've been wrong before,

I offered a night of passionate love-making with a large Australian man with an unbelievably attractive accent and impeccable manners, quite simply the woman cannot be bought.

Me ? Nah.

the calendar mechanism in early bumpers are troublesome and require two turns to advance one day , doing so would hurt the cannon pinnion badly and I am not ready to do so everytime I put it on my wrist.
my no date constellation stepped piepan dial makes me happy enough.

By the way, an original Omega sweep second hand should have a very fine hole in the center of a flat area
