I’ve asked the OB I used in London to collect my ST#2 about news and reservation process and got the reply :

At present Swiss HQ have not yet disclosed any information. As such I am not able to confirm or deny; nor do we yet have any such boutique waiting list.....

But maybe I’ve just not spent enough £ there to be worthy of their ‘list’
This is probably true and tallies what I have been told at my local Boutique. UK dealers don't like to take deposits on vapourware since a deposit in the UK is a contract to deliver and no sensible dealer will enter into an open ended commitment like that. They will start the list once there is something concrete from hq, not before. If you get a mail or call when they start the list then you have definitely spent enough!

So far I've written down #FOMO , #JOMO , #vapourware and #brandloyalty as keyword metadata in the tag cloud about the 2019 LE Speedmaster to celebrate 50 years Apollo 11...
Really this can't be happening ?

This is absurd. If you have rogue OBs or ADs taking it on themselves to accept deposits without HQ go-ahead, how would you trust them to distribute their allocation according to their own list of customers from whom they’ve taken deposits? They can easily say “sorry here’s your 7k back (without interest) we didn’t receive as many as we expected” and sell your watch to someone else willing to pay over retail. Very shonky.

Did you put down $7k at an OB or AD?

OB

If it was an AD I hope the receipt was specific about what the deposit was for

Even though I put it down at an Omega Boutique, the receipt states exactly what it's for

Each OB generally sets their own wait list and deposit rules, based on my experience.

I'm already starting to lose interest if this is how they are going to do business, Not that Omega or the OB's care because there will be plenty of people globally to swallow up whatever limited supply is produced.

I think you are right and this applies to other things. Like getting the plastic tag and outer box with the watch. Some OBs are not that strict..

Maybe they "found" x number of movements in the corner (or at WatchCo ), now they fish for pre order as they need to know how many they need to find..

new tactic

This whole thread makes me sad
For the 7K deposit a "worn on the Moon" reference 145.012-67 could be almost in the money ...

This entire deposit situation is so strange. It'd be one thing if every AD/Botique was offering a deposit option to their clients.

But the fact that there is such a wide variety in the way ADs are treating this pre-order is really strange. What happens when big buyers miss out because their local AD doesn't believe in getting a deposit for vapor ware?

In Switzerland I was told - once day receive further intel on the upcoming watches they can start to collect deposits. Until they do not even know the models, the can not do anything.

Until now all my sales receipts mentioned the reference number of the watch they were related. What does your's say?

I consider this as very dubious bussines practice. Is there AD/OB in Europe affected or is this again NAFTA only phenomenon?

"Speedmaster Apollo XI 50th Anniversary - Deposit". No reference yet but it's made clear what I've put money down for
