It's good to know that the ridiculous 10% fee I have been paying on sales are actually paid by the buyer.

The two good things eBay has done for sellers:

- Reduced selling fees to 10%....yes they used to be higher...much higher. Now much cheaper than Amazon who is ~30% fees for the small seller.

- Virtually eliminated listing fees except for special listings and add ons.

15 years ago it really sucked..you were paying coming and going on eBay. But it was the only game in town.

Glad to read later on that you may yet be able to remove the neg fdbk. I have not sold on ebay for over a decade and remember when the seller could also rate the buyer. Ebay now seems to be all for the buyer and all of my ebay selling friends have had horror stories from non payers, stupid dissatisfied buyers who want refunds for poor reasons, to idiot buyers like you had. Also lost packages and returned for refund 'empty" packages. I sold a non-working Accutron for parts at a low price only to have it returned because it did not run😀

I once left a seller a great review ( I almost always do even if they are a bit slack just cuz) but accidentally hit the negative button ( don't know how as it is clearly marked). They were a really nice older couple and I worked with them and removed the neg and replaced with pos.

Ebay is a love/hate thing, because it opens up the ability to sell that one item to that one buyer or good paying buyer (actually 2 or more as they battle and drive your price up!). As a watch hound it lets me see, learn and buy some really interesting things. I just wish ebay was more fair to the problems of the seller.

The way the system works now with Sellers unable to downrate Buyers...is that all Buyers have 100% ratings even though they may be awful. So its a big hit to the credibility of the feedback ratings overall.

The general view from the eBay community is that feedback matters very little now, but it certainly does for critical purchases (such as an expensive watch) as you need a high rated seller you can trust. That's why I care.

In addition, poor feedback elevates your eBay fees as a punishment, even though 100% rated buyers may be dinging you for no good reason, because in reality they're not honest or mindful buyers.

So why did eBay do this? Because sellers were becoming selective with buyers....they were cancelling bids and blocking buyers if they thought they would be a problem. Well, even if you're a dishonest buyer, you're still buying....but, if an honest buyer gets blocked, they might leave eBay for good....and that's bad for eBay. IOW, They would rather have some dishonest buyers churning up the system than have fewer buyers. Reality.

So why did eBay do this?

One word - retaliation.

I ran into this listing today.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cadran-Ome...m1ccb6e062d:g:ULMAAOSw0lhcdbsB&frcectupt=true

Don't know why its on US Ebay site but the listing is in French so I google translated the description. Any French speaker OF members out there, please chime in but it looks like this guy is selling the following Speedy dials. Take your pick!

Japan Racing Dial 064WJ3052033

Gemini IV Dial 064WK3052037

Mitsukoshi DIAL 064WK3052031

Reverse Panda DIAL 064WJ2987045 for c.3220

Apollo 11 35th DIAL 064WK3052035

So, here goes.

Dear eBay seller,
First, I am glad you listed all the dials in one listing. I know how expensive listing fees on eBay can be and good move on selling all the dials meshed into one listing to save few dollars. Especially when you are starting the bid at over $1,100.00 USD per dial.
Second, I am glad you used all stock photos for your dials because that tells me for sure you have these dials in stock.
Third, I am glad you put this disclaimer. I translated to stupid American English of course. "This offer is for a single dial of your choice. I specify it to avoid any dispute as I have seen." Thanks for this clarification because you don't want any disputes on which dial I ordered and will receive later.

Dear eBay sellers, stop listing all of your watches as recently serviced!

I bought a Datejust a few weeks ago off eBay, the seller told me it had just been serviced so i payed his asking price, received the watch and the power reserve was just a few hours, immediately initiated a return.

Dear eBay sellers, don't relist the watch again with: "Buyer X didn't accepted the watch" when you didn't disclosed that the case was broken.

Since i'm charged up about this, I'll comment that these days eBay doesn't need more sellers, they need more buyers. Years ago they needed sellers in competition with Amazon, but nowadays the way Amazon is treating sellers with massive fees and not addressing the scammers, ebay now has their fill. Bottom line is eBay's revenue is based on buyers, and eBay spends a fortune trying to get more buyers, and will protect them at nearly any cost.

I agree. Had an issue with a Zenith I bought recently. Arrived damaged which wasn’t disclosed. No problems returning but eBay says if you don’t hear from seller within 5 days we’ll refund you and you don’t have to return the watch. What a joke. That’s why you have to be careful selling

1. Stop believing that the earth is a slice.

2. Stop thinking that your potential buyers believe that.

3. Stop thinking that your potential buyers are stupid.

4. Stop trying to offer scrap as gold.

5. Stop posting ebay auctions like this one

6. Start thinking 3D and remind that this is a small earth, even though it's not a slice.

Edit:

7. Start to think about what you write.

8. Start to think about what you do.

9. Start to realize that your buyer might be your next seller.

10. Start to be honest.

I love the following in the description. What does this even mean? 😵‍💫

"We've been buying and selling collectible watches for.over 35 years our best prices meet the valued market of fine watch collecting! "

Well, at least we know what he'll be spending the money from the watch on.

Perhaps they're suggesting you need to be drunk to buy their watch. 😁

I don’t think I’d complain if the bottle of VanWinkle came with it.
