It was a joke...
Really? You think you could make a statement like that to any man wearing the new Daytona and they'd simply pass it off as a "joke"?

I like OF because I don't see comments like the one you made.

As for "chill...", I pointed out how your comment doesn't relate to me, but if I see someone post something derogatory and inflammatory in a forum I enjoy, I'm going to comment.

Don't like the heat, then don't make the obviously rude statement, and if you don't think it's rude, step outside in the real world and educate yourself.

You're taking my comment way too personally...

I never said "I look good in a suit. Handsome almost. I've got the shoes, the suit, the watch..." as a self-description.[\QUOTE]

You wrote those exact words, in first-person style, thereby describing yourself as such as the author in the story.

That story was not about me. Seriously, you've got this all wrong. Please take it to PM instead of trying to fight with me in public like this.

I repeat: it was a joke and it wasn't aimed at you. You can take this to PM instead of derailing the topic.
I'm responding in public because that's where you posted it. I don't believe your comment reflects the normal discourse on these threads and I wouldn't want a newcomer to read your message and think it does without read my comments to show it certainly does not reflect what everyone thinks.

Had you sent the original comment to me in a PM, I would have responded accordingly. You posted a direct insult directed at anyone wearing the specific watch referenced by the OP and to which this thread is dedicated. Our dialogue is very relevant IMO.

Personally, no offense taken as I pointed out already this doesn't directly relate to me. Furthermore, if I want the new Daytona with ceramic bezel, I will do so proudly with no concern for my manhood being questioned.

This is ridiculous. It was a joke. You took it incredibly personally and then tried to claim I'm saying I'm handsome and dress well. I'm so confused. This is my last comment on this matter.

By the way, I would and I will respond in a similar way if anyone posts a similar harsh derogatory comment about people who choose to wear any particular watch. I enjoy wearing nice watches that I find appealing or interesting, and I like coming to a forum where others have a similar passion and appreciation for fine horological time pieces, even when some or many of hem aren't appealing to me. I hope similar like-minded people feel welcome to share here, regardless of what specific watches they choose to wear.

Really? How exactly is a comment like this called for? So much for the oft-said "taste is personal preference".

Also harsh words from someone who wanted to write a collective online romantic fluff piece with a bunch of dudes... And included the following self description, "I look good in a suit. Handsome almost. I've got the shoes, the suit, the watch...".

I do not own a Daytona, I am not on any waiting list, but I find it to be a very nice looking chrono. I don't like many of the current and recent Daytonas Rolex has put out, but to each their own.

I also am not crazy about the standard Speedy, but I know that many guys are, so good for them also. IMO, No need to throw down such a harsh criticism. If you don't like the watch, don't buy it. No need to question anyone's manhood for liking or wearing a watch that is an iconic and very popular cultural piece.
well said there Sir.

Interesting that the wearer on those pics has not removed the plastic protector on his bracelet....I guess he either is not going to use it or...doesn't own it

You must be kidding or can't not see. The last photo doesn't have any plastic on and he bought it from Rolex boutique in Houston Texas.

No, I wasn't kidding, I did not notice the last pucture didn't have the protector. Just noticed ALL the other pictures where both watches have it.

Not that it's really that much of a big deal.

Aso just noticed the first pics are at the store so perhaps they where taken before he decided on one and the last is after he chose the white? ( Good choice)

Its not that uncommon for people to leave the stickers on, never really understood it myself but I've seen it on everything from Daytonas to Submariners, people think it'll protect the watch or something I guess.

Not to my taste, except for the bezel. The dial is way too busy...

I just can't bring myself to like that black bezel. Rolex has Invictized the Daytona.

That ceramic bezel is a mistake...the Zenith daytona's were classy, and you could wear the watch to work, without it screaming, "hey look at MY watch". This one, not so much. Maybe it'll be a hit with the 70+ crowd that had trouble reading the old bezels without their reading glasses whilst racing. 😀

I don't know about that, I quite like it but I don't think it's the last we'll see if the steel bezel either.

I have one from the early 2000s. It has an excellent movement. Perhaps the best chronograph movement today.

The dial is too shiny and busy. If they would just make it more utilitarian, matte, and simple. It is near impossible to glance at it to quickly register the time.

I'd like to see one of the new ones in person before I make a call.
