Well, up to these days I managed not to go to her well. The probleme is that she likes to get something nice, as well. 😵‍💫

I "scratch" your watch back, and you scratch my handbag. That's what my wife is thinking of.

That works very well for me, too. I scratch your watch back, and you scrtch my jewellery back. Now...now the downside? I have to split the watch budget into half.

What are the pros and cons of a ceramic piece vs the more traditional steel?

Its far more scratch resistant which is one plus, but in theory if shocked hard enough it could shatter.

Really not a theory...I know these are not Omegas, but I have been "collecting" photos I see on some forums of ceramics that have met this "theoretical" fate...

2 examples of Panerai watches that I think have proven the theory (not my photos):

To paraphrase "If you drop it, they will break!"

Same goes for the sapphire crystal in the hour vision watches - these are my photos:

These materials are cool, but need to be treated with some care. A stainless steel case for a Speedmaster is expensive enough - I can't imagine what a replacement case for the Dark Side would be....

Cheers, Al

I think it is timely reminder to treat your DSOM gently 😜.
My friend really wants to buy AP ROO Ceramic. It is even more ironic that a Diver watch is built from breakable material like ceramic.

It is fantastic that you take of me and my watch. 😀

I am definitely putting on a deployant coated in PVD to go with the DSOM. The open buckle and tang exposes it to being dropped too easily. Then again.

Not really. Most people buy a dive watch to look macho. They never really use it, and actually baby it (saw one new owner of a 1000 meter dive watch covering it in the rain 🙄 ) so their watches could theoretically be made of glass.

Well DSOM is one hell of a watch. I would still buy and use it if that mean I have to bubble wrap it in my wrist.😁
