Yup, and it’s gorgeous.

But in getting it I had a weird day.

Headed out during lunch to buy my wife’s birthday present (which was a watch, after she’s been eyeing my collection).

On my way to another watch boutique, I get the call from Omega saying a single Apollo 8 watch had landed in the store and that my name was top of the list. Dammit. I was expecting to wait at least 6months.

So I end up detouring into the Omega boutique, confirming that yes, I am still in love with it and it’s gorgeous in person, buy it, the head across the road to another dealer to buy a Breitling Navitimer 1 38mm for the wife.

Needless to say, that was a damn expensive lunch break, and not what I had in mind this morning!

Now I gotta sell some watches

Congrats! Beautiful piece. One of the most exciting model in the current product line.

Oh god I have to have one of these..... but I also want a black bronze Bucherer and a Panerai. And I don’t have any money.

I drink a lot so I’ve got a pretty decent liver. Perhaps I could sell that to someone?

Anyone?

It would probably be worth more if you didn't drink a lot 😉

The word from two US east coast OB’s is that Omega is limiting production and only allocating watches to OB’s that have taken deposits from anxious customers. Further discussions revealed that this applies to Omega ADs as well.

My OB informed me today that they have received one, and it is now reserved for me.

What really surprised me was that I only asked them about it 2 weeks ago, and I was also not asked to place any deposit.

I expected the waiting list to be much longer!

According to this they are in stock at the OB and Watches of Switzerland stores in the Wynn Hotel Las Vegas (type “Las Vegas” into the pick up from store search box)
https://www.watchesofswitzerland.com/Speedmaster-Apollo-8-Ceramic-Mens-Watch/p/17331450

I was in Vegas at the end of December, but they didn't have any available then. I have reached out to AD & OB in both Northern & Southern CA. Hopefully, I get the call at some point.

I thought the PCA Speedmaster would scratch my itch for a xSotM, so I acquired one in December '17. I was quite happy with it... https://www.instagram.com/p/BfSVN80HnQt/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=16fk5w9i1m53x

Then I saw the Apollo 8 pics and fell in love with the colorway, unique dial configuration (skeletonization and the three sub dials unique to the xSotM line) and the manual movement... ARGHHHH! So, anyway, I just sold my PCA Speedmaster in preparation to acquire an Apollo 8. Fingers crossed .

I just picked up a 5B a few weeks ago and, it's kinda money!

I'm enjoying it quite a bit while I await Apollo 8 .

So, while I spend a ton of time on a few car forums, I mostly just lurk here on OF.

I have a few Speedys and, per the above, have my heart set on an Apollo 8. If I am able to acquire one, I'd like to put it on a deployant clasp, similar to what anselmw did here on his PCA Speedy...
https://omegaforums.net/threads/por...al-edition-pcaspeedy.66316/page-7#post-949263

Apologies if this isn't the correct place to pose these questions (PLMK if so), but...

Would the Omega deployant clasp work with the original Apollo 8 strap? Or does it require a different strap configuration?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for part numbers, etc? I'm also looking to add a micro adjust clasp (and attendant end links) to a couple of Speedys on bracelets. So I'm looking for a place to order parts.

Again, apologies if this isn't to proper place to ask those questions.

Yes, it looks like they are no longer in stock (they probably only had one the day I had checked anyway). But reading around OF they are now starting to pop up in OBs and ADs, and not necessarily already spoken for. For example: https://omegaforums.net/threads/apollo-8-pickup-today-yes-or-no.89313

These look awesome, especially that yellow accent. How does this wear compared to the standard moonwatch?

Wears a lot smaller and lighter that the standard DSOTM since it’s only 12mm thick, lug to lug distance is shorter and there’s no weighted automatic rotor on the back of the watch

I adore this watch. I've still not seen it in person yet. The waitlist seems to be dominating the market so any that come into any of my local ADs seem to be going straight to the next person on the waiting list. Therefore they don't seem to have any display models to try on. It's going to be a while until I can afford one, so I suspect I'll be scouring the pre-owned market by then. Hoping that the watch becomes a staple of Omega's collection, rather than being limited and therefore harder to obtain down the line. Any tips on being able to try one on? Where would be best? I'm in the UK.

Mine is slated to land this week. I'm rather excited. I've reached out to Jean Rosseau to inquire about a deployant version of the strap.

I'll be in the UK at the end of June (in London and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed) if you'd like to connect and try mine on. LMK

That’s incredibly kind of you, thank you! I’m actually based near Birmingham so it’s a bit far for me to travel, but thank you all the same 😀
